Must Have:

  • Assist the automation team in developing, operating, and enhancing automated software tools and hardware fixtures.
  • Explore the integration of AI into automated testing and advance automation through AI deployment.
  • Provide proactive updates and status reports to the functional manager.
  • At least 3 years of study towards a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with C#, C++, Python, and source code control tools.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and a team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Intern - System Test Automation Engineer – San Diego, CA – Summer 2026

Are you interested in an Intern opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree to participate in 3- 6 month paid System Test Automation Engineer Intern opportunities at our site in San Diego, CA. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience in engineering for a HealthTech company.

Your role

Work in a fast paced R&D environment. Perform system integration and verification by following the structured test procedures and by exploratory, ad hoc testing. Report issues. Trouble shooting the issues with Dev team. Setup test environment, monitor the test automation run, report issues.

  • Develop software tools and test scripts; conduct dry runs on engineering builds to support test case development and early issue identification
  • Collaborate closely with developers and test engineers to validate defects and expedite resolution
  • Setup test environment to support testing needs
  • Assist the automation team in developing, operating, and enhancing automated software tools and hardware fixtures
  • Exploring the integration of AI into automated testing and advancing automation testing through AI deployment
  • Provide proactive updates and status reports to the functional manager and perform additional duties as assigned
  • Explore new opportunities for improving testing processes and methodologies

You are the right fit if

  • At least 3 years of study towards the degree of Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar
  • Experience with C#, C++; knowledge of scripting languages such as Python; experience using source code control tools
  • Excellent advocacy and persuasive skills & ability to maintain confidentiality & ability to assess a problem quickly and determine to what level it should be elevated
  • Self-motivated, quick learner and a team player; ability to work as a part of a team as well as individually
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associate

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Philips Transparency Details

The hourly pay range for this position is $28.00 to $32.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
