Build a future of trust together

Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three sectors: Defense & Security, Aerospace & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.

Our commitments, your benefits

  • Our technological expertise
  • Our focus on employee work-life balance
  • An inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index, etc.)

Your daily life

Thales Research&Technology, our research center in hardware domains, and CortAIx Labs, our AI and digital research center, are tasked with proposing breakthrough innovations, maintaining and increasing technological leadership, and ensuring competitiveness for the group.

Thales, a major player in security and defense, is interested in the detection, characterization, and prevention of new threats.

Within its laboratory, you will learn about audio signal processing.

The proliferation of voice synthesis technologies, voice cloning, and sophisticated audio editing creates new challenges in cybersecurity and digital trust. Audio deep fakes can be used to deceive authentication systems, manipulate information, or damage reputation.

The main studies on audio deep fake detection are characterized by two families of methods: processing chains and end-to-end detectors. Processing chains consist of a feature extractor followed by a classifier. End-to-end methods use a model to jointly optimize feature extraction and classification by acting directly on the raw audio waveform.

In this context, your mission will be:

  • Explore existing techniques for generating and detecting audio deep fakes.
  • Implement, test, and compare various detection algorithms based on artificial intelligence and signal analysis.
  • Develop a prototype capable of automatically identifying suspicious audio files or streams.
  • Write technical documentation and a study report summarizing the results obtained.
  • Provide code, either internally to Thales or as Open Source.

Your profile

Are you eager to participate in a research project on innovative machine learning topics?

Do you want to join a team composed of researchers in Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning?

A student in M2, Engineering School, or equivalent training, you have knowledge in:

  • Data Science;
  • Machine Learning;
  • Cybersecurity;
  • English (oral and written – B2/C1 expected).

Are rigor, creativity, curiosity, and synthesis skills recognized as your strengths?

Then this internship is for you!

All our internships are formalized by an agreement and include remuneration, the amount of which is determined according to your level of study.

Thales, a disability-friendly company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
