Job Description

This internship focuses on improving the performance of optronic products. You will be integrated into the Digital/Analog/Power Service, which designs and develops digital, analog, and power electronic boards. The main objective is to study and test different feedback topologies in transimpedance amplifier (TIA) circuits to address bandwidth dependency on parasitic capacitance, contributing to the development of next-generation electronic cards.
Must Have:
  • Be in the last year of an engineering curriculum specializing in electronics.
  • Strong knowledge in electronics and associated components (power).
  • Good command of reading electronic board schematics and electronic circuit simulation tools.
  • Basic knowledge of operational amplifiers.
  • Familiarity with LTSPICE simulation tool and schematic/placement/routing tools (KiCad / ALLEGRO).
Perks:
  • Technological expertise
  • Attention to employee balance
  • Inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)
  • Formalized internship with remuneration based on study level

Let's build a future of trust together

Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three sectors: Defense & Security, Aerospace & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.

Our commitments, your benefits

  • Our technological expertise
  • Our attention to employee balance
  • An inclusive and benevolent environment
  • Recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)

Your daily life

At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of the most important Thales technological centers of excellence. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.

This internship subject is part of a context of improving the performance of optronic products. Theoretical and technical support will be provided by the Digital/Analog/Power Service where you will be welcomed. This study will ultimately serve the development of electronic boards for new generation products. The Digital/Analog/Power Service, part of the Technical Competence Center, designs and develops digital electronic boards (FPGA, DSP, memories, communication buses) and analog (low noise signals, sensor acquisition) and power (DC/DC, motor/servomechanism control) boards. The service is composed of about thirty engineers and technicians in electronics.

Within the analog acquisition chains of our optronic products based on the use of operational amplifier components in transimpedance (TIA) configuration, we observe that the bandwidth of our TIA configurations is highly dependent on the parasitic feedback capacitance of the configurations. The goal of the internship would be to realize and test different feedback topologies in TIA configurations.

The different missions of the internship are:

  • Conduct a bibliographic study of TIA feedback topologies (in terms of PCB placement/routing)
  • Design and manufacture a printed circuit board with several feedback topologies (with the actual gain of current configurations and known real parasitic elements of detectors) and operational amplifiers to compare all TIA performances (especially in terms of bandwidth)

Your profile

Are you in the last year of an engineering curriculum specializing in electronics and looking for a 6-month internship?

Do you have strong knowledge in electronics and associated components (power)?

Do you have a good command of reading electronic board schematics and electronic circuit simulation tools?

Ideally, do you have basics in operational amplifiers?

Are you familiar with the LTSPICE simulation tool and schematic / placement / routing tools (KiCad / ALLEGRO)?

Are you recognized for your good synthesis ability, strong motivation, and interpersonal skills?

Then this internship is for you!

All our internships are formalized by an agreement and subject to remuneration, the amount of which is determined by your level of study.

Thales, a Handi-Committed company, recognizes all talents. Diversity is our best asset. Apply and join us!
