Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Junior Designer to join our creative team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and contribute to diverse projects across digital, print, UX/UI, and motion design. You will be involved in the entire creative process, from concept to final delivery, working on various digital channels and some above-the-line channels. The ideal candidate will help conceptualise and storyboard ideas, managing projects from start to finish under the guidance of the Creative Lead.
Must Have
- Collaborate with creative team on content creation.
- Develop fresh and innovative designs with strong typography and layout.
- Conceptualise and execute design projects from start to finish.
- Create static visual assets like illustrations, icons, and layouts.
- Edit video content for social media, websites, and marketing.
- Stay updated on social media trends and design tools.
- Manage projects to meet deadlines.
- 3-5 years of design experience with a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Understanding of all digital communication channels.
Good to Have
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
Job Description
Junior Designer
We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Designer to join our creative team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior designer to grow their skills and contribute to a wide range of projects for our diverse clients. You'll be involved in the entire creative process, from concept to final delivery, working across digital, print, UX/UI and motion design. This will include all digital channels (Google Display Ads, website content, Direct Mailers, and video content for Social Media channels) as well as some above-the-line channels and digital OOH billboards. It is essential that this person has the ability to help conceptualise and storyboard ideas and run with projects from concept to finish, reporting to the Creative Lead.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with fellow Art Directors and or UX designers and copywriters to create content that establishes Lula as a best-in-class fintech brand.
- A keen eye for typography and layout hierarchy to develop fresh and innovative designs.
- Interrogate briefs for opportunities to elevate the brand and work with the team to conceptualise and create content, and coordinate and develop campaigns with a distinctive and bold visual identity while maintaining our brand identity.
- Determine how best to represent a concept visually and submit to the Creative Lead and stakeholders for approval.
- Able to present creative solutions.
- Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualise and execute design projects from start to finish.
- Utilise graphic design skills to create static visual assets such as illustrations, icons, and layouts when needed.
- Assist with day-to-day graphic design tasks as needed, such as creating social media graphics, marketing collateral, and branding materials.
- Stay updated on industry trends and tools to continuously improve design quality and innovation.
- Edit video content for social media, websites and marketing materials.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the latest social media trends and best practices.
- Work closely with a traffic manager to ensure that projects are completed according to deadlines.
- Collaborate with the wider creative team, including senior designers, copywriters, and project managers, to bring ideas to life.
THE EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Matric/ Grade 12 achieved
- 3-5 years minimum working experience and a portfolio to showcase your design work.
- Related degree in design/art direction from a reputable institution.
- A strong understanding of all digital communication channels
- A problem-solving attitude with excellent attention to detail and the ability to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
- Deadline-driven with good prioritisation and time management skills - you know what success looks like and how to measure it.
- Strong graphic design skills with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools is beneficial to the role.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of graphic design work and UI/UX design.
