ICN8 is the largest 8“ integrated circuits wafer fab in Europe. It is a high-tech environment with many multi discipline challenges, housing over 450 manufacturing tools (ASML, ASM/TEL, Applied Material, LAM) and 150 measurement tools (inline inspections, end of inline testing). Products are made in CMOS, BIMOS, RFCMOS and SOI processes. In the coming 5 years several new processes will be transferred to our fab which makes enables further growth.

Job Mission

Responsible for the investigation, controlling and improving of the PCM measurements in current and new processes  within ICN8 manufacturing ( 8 ”Fab).

What exactly do we mean by PCM measurements?

Process feedback is obtained by measuring each wafer after finishing in the wafer  fab.  Each wafer is tested on special test structures. The PCM measurements performed should be within certain values. If they are, the wafers are tested OK and can be shipped to the customer . If not the wafer is scrapped and new wafers should be started to replace the failed ones (PCM= Process Control Module).

Job Description

You will join the Metrology, AMHS & PCM section which is part of the PSE organization. This Process Sustaining and Enhancement (PSE) organization is part of ICN8 and has the responsibility to improve and maintain the running process technologies.

The Metrology, AMHS & PCM section provides measurement data from production and monitor wafers to monitor the quality of products and manufacturing machines.

Your responsibility will be on creating measurement processes, with a focus on the complex process and equipment issues. There is a strong emphasis on optimizing and continuously improving the PCM toolset. You share this responsibility with two other engineers. The role is a combination between process and equipment engineering.

Responsible for and Implementing and establishing a base-line PCM improvement  within the ICN8 organization.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Responsible to maintain and continuously improve your equipment, that meet the safety and quality requirements of NXP and comply with the applicable standards. And validation on the shop floor.
  • Proactively connects with Manufacturing and transfers improvement ideas concerning structural technical problems, material quality issues and bottlenecks into improvement actions, involve other sections and departments if applicable and drive these actions until successful implementation
  • Use technical knowledge and experience to contribute in improvement projects
  • Define the required quantity and secure the availability of production tools, initiate upgrades, support maintenance actions and solve safety issues 
  • Coordinates quality related escalations to customers and support Manufacturing in securing production progress.

Education and Function requirements

  • Bachelor (HBO/WO) or Master’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or a relevant technical area.
  • Good understanding of electronics is important
  • Knowledge of Ducth and Dutch is mandatory
  • Analytical, pragmatic, pro-active and customer oriented
  • Takes initiative; shows ownership, hands on mentality
  • Is a reliable team player, listens to and absorbs other ideas and opinions. Good social/communication skills on different levels
  • Willing to learn something new from scratch, as the semiconductor industry is not comparable to anything else.
