Role Overview
As a Junior QA Engineer at Element8’s Calicut office, you will join our QA team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products (websites, mobile apps, APIs, etc). You will work closely with development, design and project teams to define test scenarios, execute and report on tests, and help improve our QA processes. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, has strong attention to detail, and wants to grow in QA and software testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Review product requirements, specifications and design documentation to understand features.
- Develop and maintain test cases and test plans (manual) for new functionality and regression.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, usability and interface tests.
- Log defects clearly (steps to reproduce, environment, severity) in the bug-tracking tool.
- Work with the development team to reproduce issues, verify fixes and perform retests.
- Report test results, provide status updates and communicate risks/blocks effectively.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve QA processes, test coverage and automation (as you gain experience).
- Ensure products comply with the company’s quality standards (performance, security, responsiveness).
- Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure that UI/UX meets requirements across browsers/devices.
- Maintain test environments, ensure test data is set up and clean, prepare for releases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline (or equivalent).
- 6 months to 2 years of experience in software QA/Testing (manual testing) ideally in web or mobile applications.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and QA life cycle.
- Hands-on experience writing test cases, executing tests, logging bugs.
- Basic understanding of web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HTTP, REST APIs.
- Familiarity with different browsers, devices and platforms (cross-browser/device testing).
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Calicut, collaborate with cross-functional teams and adhere to deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn new tools, techniques and eventually work with automation frameworks (bonus).
