NXP Semiconductors is seeking a Junior Technician / School Leaver for its ICN8 factory in Nijmegen, Europe's largest chip factory. This role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components, resolving process and machine-related disruptions, and performing preventive maintenance in a cleanroom environment. The position includes a comprehensive 1.5 to 2-year training program, starting with preventive maintenance and progressing to electrical and mechanical fault resolution.
Must have:
  • MBO technical degree (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, metalworking) at WEB 4 level
  • Disciplined work attitude

The ICN8 factory in Nijmegen is an important and also the largest chip factory in Europe for NXP Semiconductors. The pressure to be and remain the best in the semiconductor industry is very high. Our strength lies mainly in versatility, combined with high quality requirements from the automotive industry and mobile phone business.

NXP produces tens of billions of chips per year and ICN8 contributes about a quarter of that. This means that here in Nijmegen we account for more than 2 chips per world citizen per year!

For ICN 8, we are looking for a Technician.

Within NXP ICN8 there are 4 production Areas. Each Area consists of several departments (sections). One of these sections is Dry-etch, which falls under Area 2, and here we have 1 vacancy available.

Within these sections, operators work in 5 shifts. In addition, technicians work in 5 shifts and 2 shifts respectively, and engineers work in day shifts in this section. Operators, technicians, and engineers all work in the cleanroom of ICN8 and collaborate intensively with each other.

The 5-shift technicians are responsible for resolving disruptions to electrical and mechanical components of the systems in the assigned section. In addition, you must be able to simultaneously resolve process and machine-related disruptions. Preventive maintenance is also part of your tasks. The work will be carried out where possible according to procedures, flow diagrams, or checklists with the aim of high equipment availability. You will be trained in the 2-shift service by the most experienced technicians and engineers. This training will start with performing preventive maintenance, and then you will receive training in resolving electrical or mechanical faults on the systems. The training will last approximately 1.5 to 2 years.
