Job Description

The Learning and Development Specialist will focus on training for new hires and job-specific training as needed by the operations team. This role involves implementing the process flow to build skills and drive performance metrics aligned with Side's organizational goals. Responsibilities include delivering training sessions, developing training programs, managing the Learning Management System (LMS), conducting needs assessments, and evaluating the effectiveness of training. The specialist will also ensure compliance with relevant laws and stay updated with industry trends. The job requires the specialist to deliver new hire and refresher training, deliver basic and intermediate modules for developmental training programs, manage and coordinate training enrolments and act as the knowledge expert. The specialist must also design and develop training programs, modify programs, collaborate with department heads, upload courses and assign them in LMS, create reports for management, maintain training records, and track employee progress. The job also requires staying current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.

Job Details

The Learning and Development Specialist will focus primarily on new hire and job specific training as needed by the operations team. Learn and implement the process flow to ensure building skills, upskilling, and drive performance metrics aligned with Side's organization goals.

What you’ll be doing:

Training Preparation and Facilitation:

  • Deliver training sessions using various methods such as in-person, virtual, and blended learning.
  • Deliver New Hire Training.
  • Deliver Refresher Training.
  • Deliver basic and intermediate modules for developmental training programs.
  • Deliver technical/project related training.
  • Manage and coordinate training enrolments.
  • Act as the knowledge expert within the business for anyone with questions or queries regarding New Hire Training and development plans.

Training Program Development and Adaptation:

  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs, including guides, manuals, e-learning modules outlines and workshops when required.
  • Create and adapt curriculum for a variety of audiences and learning delivery methods.
  • Modify programs as, and when, required.
  • Collaborate with department heads and subject matter experts to ensure training content is relevant and up to date.

LMS Management:

  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including course uploads and assignation.

Needs Assessment:

  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements.

Evaluation and Feedback:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze training feedback and create reports for management review.
  • Maintain training records and track employee progress.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all training programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years experience as a coach, trainer, instructor or teacher (experience in L&D is an asset).
  • Relevant certification in training/coaching/teaching domains an asset
  • Excellent English language skills (majority of courses will be delivered in English)
  • Intermediate Excel and Power Point skills.
  • Skilled in Adult learning sessions’ management with strong knowledge of Adult Learning Principles.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate processes with multiple business stakeholders.
  • Experienced with learning content creation and adaptation.

Skills:

  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training programs.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
