Principle duties and essential functions
Operate and maintain semi-automated opto-mechanical stations
Develop and integrate new stations and processes
Assisting in assembly and characterization of micro optics elements (chip polishing, fiber-to-chip attachment), inspection and quality assurance
Management of the laboratory and assuring smooth day to day operations
Build and maintain inventory list of lab equipment, maintain library of operation manuals and calibration procedures
Implement periodic calibration routines of lab equipmen
Characterize and check proper operation of lab measurement equipment
Maintain supply levels of lab consumables and assure day to day operations
Handle equipment purchase orders, follow process or procurement through to completion
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Prior experience working in electrical engineering, optical, semiconductor manufacturing labs or cleanrooms
Knowledge in using electrical equipment, such as VNA, high speed RF cabling, electrical probes, voltage supplies, bias tees, etc
Knowledge of fiber optics
Crafty and with ‘can do’ attitude in tackling daily lab operation
Good understanding or mechanical properties of materials
Bonus for understanding semiconductor physics and polymer chemistry, but not required
