Lead C++ game Developer

Magic Media is seeking a self-motivated Lead C++ Game Developer with extensive C++ development experience and a proven ability to lead teams of at least 5 developers. The role involves maintaining and building C++ code for gameplay, UI, and native mobile applications, providing architectural oversight, and mentoring team members. This permanently remote position requires collaboration with clients on technical issues and future plans, driven by a passion for digital content production.

Must Have

• Maintain and build code using C++ for assigned work streams.
• Work on gameplay, UI, and native Mobile code (Kotlin/Swift interfaces).
• Provide architectural oversight and define team architecture.
• Lead and mentor a team of at least 5 developers.
• Collaborate with clients on technical issues and future plans.
• Strong knowledge of C++, Kotlin/Swift, and game development fundamentals.
• Experience with UI and networking code.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.

Good to Have

• Unreal or Unity experience.
• Experience working with APIs.
• Solid technical foundation (e.g., Computer Science / Maths Degree or equivalent).

We’re looking for a Lead C++ game Developer who is self-motivated, goal-orientated, and a strong team player. The ideal candidate will have extensive C++ development experience in games and experience in leading teams of at least 5 other developers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the digital content production process and who is willing to work with content creators and engineers of other disciplines to build awesome games.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Maintain and build code using C++ for all assigned work streams.
• Work on gameplay, UI and native Mobile code.
• Work on Kotlin and/or Swift with interfaces to C++ game code.
• Help provide architectural oversight across the entire application.
• Collaborate to devise optimal engineering solutions to technical challenges.
• Lead the team, defining the architecture and what are the main issues in the codebase to help producers organise future work.
• Mentor other developers.
• Be in contact with the client to discuss technical issues and future plans for the team.

Requirements

• Knowledge of C++.
• Knowledge of Kotlin and/or Swift.
• Understanding of C++ in games and memory optimization.
• UI and networking code experience.
• Understanding of fundamentals of game development.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Lead team of at least 5 other developers.
