Job Summary
Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead Gameplay Animator to join the development of an exciting new IP. You will lead your animation team, crafting high-quality animations and systems using traditional animation principles, gameplay fundamentals, and motion-capture. The role requires a strong understanding of game design mechanics, 3Cs, AI behavior, narrative design, camera animation, and facial animation, working collaboratively across disciplines to deliver AAA titles.
Must Have
- Lead animation team and their work.
- Craft high quality animations and systems using traditional animation principles, gameplay fundamentals and motion-capture.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of game design mechanics, 3Cs, AI behavior, narrative design, camera animation and facial animation.
- Work with multiple disciplines and departments to achieve unified goals.
- Actively give input and respond well to feedback.
- Troubleshoot tool implementations and suggest workflow improvements.
Good to Have
- Understanding of character creation (modeling, texturing, and rigging).
- Leading experience on a content focused team in AAA games.
- Major recognition in your field of work.
- Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, programming, etc.

- Actively give input and respond well to feedback to achieve the polish level we need to deliver AAA titles
- Troubleshoot tool implementations and suggest workflow improvements to increase team efficiency and creativity
You’re awesome because you have...
- 3+ years Professional Animation experience (or some combination of applicable training and experience)
- 1 or more shipped AAA game title credit
- Expertise and knowledge in game engines and building animation systems
- Experience of the motion capture process, editing and cleanup
- Strong animation fundamentals in human and creature movement (timing, weight, balance)
- Strong skills in leading teams
- Ability to adapt to new tools and tech
- Fluent in Maya
- Strong problem-solving skills both technical and cross-department
- Ability to mentor Animators
- Ability to think philosophically about character movement
