This role is within the team that designs and develops CSQ Quote & Order, a cutting-edge order management and quoting platform. Built using the latest technology, our platform modernizes industries like telecommunications and banking.

About our technology  

Our product adopts a microservice architecture for scalability and flexibility, using Kafka for event streaming and PostgreSQL for data storage.  

We use Kubernetes to orchestrate our containers, allowing us to offer cloud (AWS & Azure) and on-premise deployment options of our platform. Our infrastructure is maintained by a state-of-the-art gitops/IaC pipeline.  

We heavily lean on open-source tools and libraries, as well as maintaining our own, to make development faster, simpler, and more consistent. Our code is managed using Git, undergoes peer review before we test, package and deploy through our CI/CD pipelines.  

About the role  

As a Lead Java Software Engineer, you will drive our platform architecture and technical direction, mentor and empower your team, and collaborate across squads to deliver robust, scalable solutions for the CSG Quote & Order product.  

You’ll be the go-to person for technical decisions and will play a key role in defining our development standards, architecture, and best practices.  

In your first 90 days, you’ll get comfortable with our system, build strong relationships across the Quote & Order team, and design new features to deliver awesome outcomes for our customers.

What you'll do:

• You will report to the Software Development Manager
• Help shape our technical roadmap, aligning system architecture and development priorities with long-term business goals. 
• Work with the latest technology (Microservices, Event based architectures, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Code software! We want 40% of your time to be spent working on R&D projects / product development
• Collaborate with development, testing and UI design teams to translate customer needs into impactful, user-friendly features by composing complete design documentsBuild and grow your team, provide technical guidance / coaching and develop the knowledge/skills of your team

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience
• At least 7+ years of technical experience in product (software) design, product development, and/or product implementation with modern Java SE (17+)
• Solve complex problems quickly. Experience gathering and analyzing data to inform high-impact technical decisions
• Highly effective at communicating in English, have collaborating across multiple teams and strong comprehension of written/verbal material
• Proficiency in development, packaging and release toolchains (Java, Docker, Linux/unix (in general or command line), Git / github, maven.)
• A plus if you are familiar with: AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, Micoservices and REST API frameworks
