Job Description

This Life Cycle Engineer role in Naval Services – GT Modules at Rolls-Royce provides in-service support for Naval Gas Turbine Modules. Responsibilities include leading engineering investigations, resolving customer technical issues, and supporting the development of technical publications. The role contributes to sustainment initiatives like product lifing analysis and data-driven equipment health prognostics, acting as a key point of contact for technical issues with internal and external customers.
Must have:
  • Manage and execute Root Cause Analysis of Engineering Investigations.
  • Create high-quality technical engineering reports.
  • Create and deliver effective customer presentations within the Safety Process framework.
  • Act as point of contact for both external customers and internal RR field service teams on technical issues, including occasional off-hour support and travel.
  • Develop Service Bulletins and Technical Publication updates as required, or serve as peer reviewer for others on the team.
  • Support in-service customer program reviews, and/or technical integration meetings.
  • Identify and execute improvements to process, tools, and methods for Service Engineering to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2+ years experience, or Master's Degree in Engineering, or JD/PhD.
  • Engineering experience in gas turbine, industrial, or marine machinery accessory systems.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Good to have:
  • Experience or familiarity with US Naval Surface Ship Gas Turbine Modules (Ship Service Gas Turbine Generator Sets and Propulsion Gas Turbines).
  • Experience in the marine industry, covering technical support, technical documentation, problem-solving, Naval standards, and Mil-Specifications.
  • Experience with electrical power generation equipment.
  • Self-motivated, confident individual with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to make well-informed, rational decisions and demonstrate problem-solving skills within organizational policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.
  • Comfortable working periodically in an industrial, shipyard, or shipboard environment.

To provide in-service support of the Naval Gas Turbine Modules. This role is responsible for leading engineering investigations (EI), safety related “red top” investigations, and resolving customer technical issues. While also supporting the development and drafting of technical publications, including technical manuals, service bulletins, technical queries, and technical variances.

What you will be doing:

With this attractive opportunity, as part of the Engineering for Services (EfS) team, the Life Cycle engineer will provide in-service product engineering support to internal and external customers on naval marine gas turbine engines, and associated GT packages, under the technical authority of the Chief Life Cycle Engineer. Additionally, this role will contribute to sustainment initiatives including, but not limited, to product lifing analysis, data driven equipment health prognostics, and as-maintained product configuration management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and execute Root Cause Analysis of Engineering Investigations.
  • Creation of high quality technical engineering reports.
  • Creation and delivery of effective customer presentations within the Safety Process framework.
  • Acting point of contact for both external customers and internal RR field service teams on technical issues, including occasional off-hour support and travel.
  • Develop Service Bulletins and Technical Publication updates as required, or serve as peer reviewer for others on the team.
  • Support in-service customer program reviews, and/or technical integration meetings.
  • Identify and execute improvements to process, tools, and methods for Service Engineering to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Liaise with the Engineering Leadership and System Design Engineer(s) to drive design improvements from issues or opportunities identified from in-service experience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 2+ years experience, or
  • Masters Degree in Engineering, or
  • JD/PhD
  • Engineering experience in the area(s) of gas turbine, industrial, or marine machinery accessory systems (such as fuel, lubrication, fire suppression, cooling water, ventilation, support structures, electrical, control, etc.).
  • Must be US Citizen to be considered for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:
