Maintenance 1/Saw filer

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs, this position will focus on saw filing and grinding.

Must Have

• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
• Assist in repairing woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts.
• Order supplies and parts as required.
• Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
• Adhere to established safety rules and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Participate in safety and continuous improvement programs.
• Handle hazardous waste and materials if assigned to Treating Department.
• Prepare various reports as required.
• Possess a high school diploma.
• Have at least 1 year of machine repair and maintenance experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, control technology, and welding.
• Understand safe equipment practices and applicable regulations.
• Be proficient in written and verbal English communication.

Job Summary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
• Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
• Orders supplies and parts as required
• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
• Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
• Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
• If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Prepares various reports as required
• Performs other duties as required
• Must keep consistent attendance
• Must be willing to learn new skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Written and verbal communication skills in English are required
