Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs, this position will focus on saw filing and grinding.
Must Have
- Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
- Assist in repairing woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts.
- Order supplies and parts as required.
- Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to established safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in safety and continuous improvement programs.
- Handle hazardous waste and materials if assigned to Treating Department.
- Prepare various reports as required.
- Possess a high school diploma.
- Have at least 1 year of machine repair and maintenance experience.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, control technology, and welding.
- Understand safe equipment practices and applicable regulations.
- Be proficient in written and verbal English communication.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
- Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
- Orders supplies and parts as required
- Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
- Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
- Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
- Maintains a clean and organized work area
- Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
- If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
- Prepares various reports as required
- Performs other duties as required
- Must keep consistent attendance
- Must be willing to learn new skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
- Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Written and verbal communication skills in English are required
