Must Have
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of AIML engineers and researchers
- Drive research and engineering initiatives across 3D computer vision, generative modeling, and synthetic data generation
- Oversee the design and deployment of machine learning infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and research partners
- Guide the integration of research prototypes into production frameworks
- Lead architectural reviews, establish best practices for reproducible ML research
- Represent the team in technical and strategic discussions
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in applied AI/ML research and development
- Deep expertise in machine learning, computer vision, generative modeling, and synthetic data
- Strong proficiency in Python, C++, C#, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Kubeflow
- Hands-on experience designing ML infrastructure and MLOps pipelines
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

- Familiarity with Unity, 3D graphics systems, or robotics
- Understanding of conditional generation, representation learning, and geometric deep learning methods for 3D perception and reasoning tasks

- Ability to balance long-term research exploration with near-term deliverables

Apple is seeking a technically strong and visionary Manager, AIML Engineering to lead a team focused on building the next generation of embodied intelligence systems. This role will oversee research and engineering efforts at the intersection of machine learning, computer vision, and generative modeling—advancing Apple’s capabilities in character-based and spatially aware AI technologies.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of AIML engineers and researchers developing intelligent systems for human-centric and embodied AI applications.
- Drive research and engineering initiatives across 3D computer vision, generative modeling, and synthetic data generation to support large-scale training and evaluation.
- Oversee the design and deployment of machine learning infrastructure, including scalable data pipelines, model training environments, and experiment tracking systems.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and research partners across Apple to align foundational AI technologies with upcoming product experiences.
- Guide the integration of research prototypes into production frameworks, ensuring performance, maintainability, and alignment with Apple’s high standards for quality and privacy.
- Lead architectural reviews, establish best practices for reproducible ML research, and ensure robust documentation and knowledge transfer across teams.
- Represent the team in technical and strategic discussions, influencing direction on key AI initiatives across Apple’s ecosystem.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in applied AI/ML research and development, with a demonstrated record of delivering scalable, high-quality systems.
- Deep expertise in machine learning, computer vision, generative modeling, and synthetic data—including experience building tools, datasets, and simulation-based training workflows.
- Strong proficiency in Python, C++, C#, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Kubeflow.
- Hands-on experience designing ML infrastructure and MLOps pipelines for data-driven research and production model deployment.
- Familiarity with Unity, 3D graphics systems, or robotics is highly desirable, particularly for developing synthetic environments and embodied AI simulations.
- Understanding of conditional generation, representation learning, and geometric deep learning methods, especially for 3D perception and reasoning tasks.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate research into practical applications across diverse teams.
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S.) in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline or 5+ years equivalent industry experience.
- Familiarity with Apple’s research and product ecosystem is a plus.
- Demonstrated passion for advancing AI methods that combine perception, reasoning, and action.
- Proven ability to balance long-term research exploration with near-term deliverables.
- Experience publishing in top-tier AI or robotics venues or contributing to open-source ML frameworks is advantageous.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
