Job Summary

As a Business Risk & Controls Manager for the Consumer Group at PayPal, you will directly support the Xoom and Experience Design business. Your role involves developing, managing, and executing day-to-day first-line risk management program activities to ensure excellent customer and merchant experiences and regulatory compliance. You will identify issues, recommend best practices for internal control processes, lead projects to enhance control effectiveness, and analyze business trends. This position focuses on process improvements, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks within a dynamic environment.

Must Have

  • Identify issues and recommend best practices for internal control processes.
  • Lead functional projects and programs to enhance internal control effectiveness.
  • Partner with teams to analyze business trends and their impact on internal controls.
  • Develop and implement strategies for process improvements within the internal controls function.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations through effective internal control measures.
  • Use risk management expertise to solve complex problems, identify and mitigate risks.
  • Create and execute plans to build an effective risk management foundation and framework.
  • Build strong relationships and proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support growth initiatives by developing recommendations for achieving the right risk/reward tradeoff.
  • Develop and launch control monitoring and testing plans leveraging automation.
  • Efficiently manage issues to ensure prompt customer remediation and on-time resolution.
  • Provide leadership level risk program status updates, roadmaps, and transparency.

  • Proven ability to work cross functionally and adapt to change.
  • Proven to prioritize workload and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates independence, initiative, and follow-through.

Expected Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Support growth initiatives by developing recommendations for achieving the right risk/reward tradeoff within complex projects and timelines
  • Develop and launch control monitoring and testing plans leveraging automation where possible to monitor risk trends
  • Efficiently manage issues that arise to ensure prompt customer remediation and on-time resolution
  • Provide leadership level risk program status updates, roadmaps, and transparency to known or potential risks.

  • Leadership: Effective cross-functional leader who is highly collaborative and can cultivate practical solutions to achieve desired goals.
  • Communication: Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to drive productive discussions with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute action plans.
  • Problem-Solving & Attention to Detail: Ability to deep-dive processes and problem statements to identify risks and root causes and to partner with the business to mitigate risks and create solutions with the customer and business goals in mind.
  • Technical Capabilities: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, comfortable learning new systems and processes.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree; intellectually curious with an ability to learn new systems, products, and processes quickly. Professional risk certifications are a plus.
  • 10-12 years of relevant experience in the areas of Audit, Internal Control, Operational Risk, Compliance, or similar with direct experience managing risks, controls, and/or compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in a rapid growth environment in financial services, payments or technology companies is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally and adapt to change.
  • Proven to prioritize workload and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates independence, initiative, and follow-through.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $100,500 to $173,250
