Job Description

The Manager, Mail Department will oversee a team of 14 Mail Clerks, managing workload, schedules, and performance. Key responsibilities include scanning incoming items, setting up service points, and interacting with senior executives for special requests. The role requires strong supervisory, customer service, and communication skills, along with expertise in shipping, postage systems, and basic computer proficiency. Candidates should be able to lift 75 pounds and possess a valid Driver’s License.
Must have:
  • Manage/supervise staff of 14 Mail Clerks.
  • Scan/x-ray all incoming items and report any suspect findings.
  • Work with employee, department, production or term deal when setting up service points.
  • Interact with senior executives to accommodate special requests and projects.
  • Responsible for Shipping Clerks, Coordinator II, Sr. Coordinator and Dedicated Drivers in absence of Manager of Location Services or Exe. Director of Logistics Services.
  • Evaluate work performance, coach and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Enforce company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Authorize special shipping needs for high level execute offices.
  • Support department accounting/reconciliation processes.
  • Open, research and forward unidentified mail/shipping correspondence.
  • Attend Monthly Safety/Environmental Training meetings and present training material.
  • Perform special requests/assignments from supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift and transport 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Manage/supervise staff of 14 Mail Clerks. Assign workload, monitor mail routes, schedule lunch hour, breaks, vacation time, track sick leave and overtime
  • Scan/x-ray all incoming items and report any suspect findings to the appropriate personnel
  • Work with employee, department, production or term deal when setting up service points (inbound/outbound mail stops)
  • Interact with senior executives to accommodate special requests and projects
  • Responsible for (2) Shipping Clerks, (1) Coordinator II, Sr. Coordinator and (2) Dedicated Drivers, during the absence the Manager of Location Services or Exe. Director of Logistics Services
  • Evaluate work performance, coach and disciplinary action as needed
  • Enforce company and departmental policies and procedures. Assist staff, employees and outside parties with questions, concerns and special requests
  • Authorize special shipping needs for high level execute offices, in determining cost effectiveness of specialized shipping services (in the absence of Manager of Location Services or Exe. Director of Logistics Services
  • Support department accounting/reconciliation processes
  • Open, research and forward unidentified mail/shipping correspondence to the correct employee, department, production or term deal
  • Attend Monthly Safety/Environmental Training meetings and present training material to department personnel
  • Perform special requests/assignments from supervisor

Qualifications

  • Business Management Degree preferred
  • 3 -5 years’ experience in managerial role
  • Strong supervisory/managerial skills
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, including customs rules and regulations required for overseas shipments
  • Knowledge of postage system, general knowledge of messenger services, including FedEx, UPS and DHL
  • Thorough knowledge of the dynamics and operations of the Mail Department and Entertainment Industry
  • Typing skills, basic computer skills; including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Trained/certified to operate scanner/x-ray machine and special bomb threat/assessment training
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize workload, attention to detail, strong leadership, with good judgment
  • This position requires a valid Driver’s License for the operation of an electrical cart

The anticipated base salary for this position is $$61,000 - $77,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
