Job Description

PayPal Treasury is seeking an experienced Counterparty Risk Management professional to join its North America team. This role involves establishing counterparty and credit risk management standards, enabling PayPal's global growth while ensuring strong financial risk management. The manager will partner with various internal and external teams, focusing on fundamental credit analysis, capital markets, financial market infrastructure, and regulatory compliance for financial services. The position requires broad exposure to businesses, products, and regions, and involves leading key Treasury processes and identifying automation initiatives.

  • Experience with legal documentation and contract negotiation related to agreements in credit/lending, payments, and/or trading products space.
  • Familiarity with technology and infrastructure/tools to support effective credit risk management.
  • Financial Institutions industry experience preferred.

The role partners with multiple teams within and outside Treasury, and has broad exposure to various businesses, products, functional areas, and regions. Additionally, the position works closely with other Finance functions (such as Accounting, Controllership) and other internal stakeholders (such as Partnerships and Business Development, Legal, Product, Risk & Compliance, Audit). The role requires a background in fundamental credit analysis, understanding of capital markets, financial market infrastructure and regulatory landscape for financial services in the US and globally. Financial Institutions industry experience preferred.

Expected Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Evaluate, monitor, manage, and structure counterparty exposure, and articulate risk appetite to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Remain current on all aspects of the counterparty portfolio and individual relationships, including changes in credit profile, exposure, emerging risks, potential issues and opportunities
  • Perform credit due diligence of new and existing counterparty relationships in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset and business acumen to balance risk management and business needs. Ability to build strong relationships across geographies and functions
  • Experience with legal documentation and contract negotiation related to agreements in credit/lending, payments, and/or trading products space (derivatives, repo, clearing)
  • Familiarity with technology and infrastructure/tools to support effective credit risk management
