Job Summary

SMG Studio is seeking an experienced Mid-Senior Game Producer/Project Manager to join their team remotely in Q1 2026. This full-time role involves leading cross-disciplinary teams through all production phases, ensuring project goals and deliverables are met. The successful candidate will manage project backlogs, schedules, budgets, and resources, while also identifying and resolving blockers. They will serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders and contribute to process improvements, making a significant impact on the studio's game output.

Must Have

  • Lead and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Manage project goals, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain project backlogs, roadmaps, and schedules.
  • Identify and resolve project blockers.
  • Manage change, evaluate risk, and assess project impact.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing technical and digital projects.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, scope, reporting, and scheduling.
  • Fluency in production tools (Atlassian, Google Suite, Slack).
  • Highly organised problem solver and strategic thinker.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet management.
  • In-depth knowledge and passion for games.
  • Australian permanent resident.

Good to Have

  • Experience working in digital agency, ecommerce or other tech company.
  • Experience using Jira or Slack.
  • A score of over 100 in One More Line.
  • Experience coding, writing, 3D, photography or any creative field.
  • An interest in boardgames.
  • Prior employment at a large or small game developer.
  • Worked on the development & deployment of a console title (Switch, Xbox, Playstation).
  • Worked on the development & deployment of a Steam title.

Job Description

An experienced Game Producer to join the team in Q1 2026.

We're mostly working from home, but have office locations in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne you could work from. This role can be done remotely. Although for this role we will require a large crossover (6hrs) on Sydney's timezone 9.30am-6pm)

You have:

  • A strong understanding of Agile methodologies with hands-on experience managing technical and digital projects
  • Experience managing, reviewing, and analysing budgets and resources. Also including project scope, reporting and scheduling
  • Fluency across production tools (Atlassian, Google Suite, Slack etc)

Your duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Lead and coordinate a cross-disciplinary team through all production phases to ensure project goals, milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for the project team, stakeholders and management.
  • Build and maintain project backlogs, roadmaps, schedules and other key project management artifacts across our titles and prototypes.
  • Crush those Blockers! Identify, escalate and help your team clear potential blockers that could affect timeline, sequencing or quality.
  • Manage change and evaluate risk and assess impact on project delivery.
  • Documenting the outcomes of meetings and allocating and enforcing actions on the team.
  • Organise and document beta testing rounds both local and remotely.
  • Liaise with our 3rd-party production partners.
  • Monitoring analytics and escalating issues and insights as needed.
  • Proactively contribute to the improvement of our production and development processes and tools through knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Help coach, train and support less experienced members of the project management team, both direct and indirect reports.
