Snail Games USA is seeking a bilingual (Mandarin/English) Unreal Engine developer with a strong understanding of cultivation/xianxia fantasy to join their team in Culver City, CA. This full-time, hybrid role involves collaborating with US and China teams to ensure authenticity, technical quality, and creative alignment on a new cultivation-themed RPG in Unreal Engine 5. The position can be a senior individual contributor or a lead, requiring technical expertise in art, engineering, or design implementation.

About the Role

We are seeking Unreal Engine developers with bilingual skills (Mandarin and English) and a strong understanding of cultivation/xianxia fantasy to join our team. This role bridges US and China teams, ensuring authenticity, technical quality, and creative alignment on a new cultivation-themed RPG built in Unreal Engine 5. Depending on experience, you may contribute as a senior individual contributor (Staff level) or take on broader responsibilities in leadership and planning (Lead level). Technical expertise is required in areas of art, engineering, or design implementation.

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Hybrid – Los Angeles Area (1–2 in-office meetings per month)

Responsibilities

Collaborate with US leadership and the China development team to review and improve assets, systems, and overall quality
Provide cultural and thematic guidance to ensure authenticity to cultivation and Chinese fantasy traditions
Contribute technical expertise to gameplay systems, art pipelines, or design implementation within UE5
Support cross-regional collaboration by mentoring, documenting processes, and raising the quality bar
(Lead level) Guide planning, set standards, and coordinate cross-disciplinary workflows

Minimum Requirements

Proven experience in game development with Unreal Engine 5
Fluent in both Mandarin and English (spoken and written)
Strong understanding of Chinese culture, especially cultivation/xianxia fantasy themes
Technical proficiency in at least one discipline (engineering, art, or design)

Salary Range: $85,000 – $135,000 Annually (dependent on seniority and leadership scope)
