Job Summary
Studio Sirens, founded in 2024 under Snail Games, is a development team focused on prototyping innovative gameplay systems, crafting bold new IP, and co-development projects. The studio seeks a hands-on Technical Director with a CTO mindset to set technical vision, lead a small team, and personally build full-stack features. Responsibilities include console porting, optimization, owning pipelines, and steering tech for new titles from prototype to launch.
Must Have
- Set and own studio-wide technical direction.
- Lead console/PC porting initiatives, including compliance and certification.
- Architect and implement gameplay, tools, build/CI, and network systems.
- Recruit, mentor, and direct a small engineering team.
- Define pipelines for profiling, optimization, crash/telemetry, and release management.
- Partner with design/production on scope, estimates, and risk.
- 10+ years professional software development, 3+ in senior/lead or tech leadership.
- Proven delivery of shipped products or platforms.
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine, with a preference for UE4 or earlier versions.
- Strong C++ and/or other systems languages.
- Deep understanding of runtime performance, memory, and build systems.
- Track record with console development or porting, including optimization and certification workflows.
Good to Have
- Familiarity with Ark ASA or Atlas Modkit environments.
- Multiplayer networking/matchmaking experience.
- Backend services or cloud deployment experience.
- Cloud deployment experience.
- Startup/studio-building experience (hiring, vendor evaluation, budgets, tech/vendor roadmaps).
- CI/CD at scale, automated testing, and observability (crash, perf, and gameplay metrics).

About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on Technical Director with a CTO mindset who is able to set technical vision, lead a small team, and personally build full-stack features end-to-end. Near-term focus includes console porting and optimization (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC) plus owning pipelines, certification paths, and performance. Long-term, you’ll steer tech for new titles from prototype to launch while partnering closely with the studio director.
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Hybrid in Loveland, Colorado (baseline 4 days/week onsite). Hybrid days and relocation support are negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Set and own studio-wide technical direction; balance roadmap with near-term delivery.
- Lead porting initiatives across consoles/PC, including platform compliance, performance, and certification.
- Architect and implement gameplay, tools, build/CI, and network/infrastructure systems as an IC when needed.
- Recruit, mentor, and direct a small engineering team; establish standards, code review, and runtime/perf budgets.
- Define pipelines for profiling, optimization, crash/telemetry, and release management.
- Partner with design/production on scope, estimates, and risk; translate tech decisions into business outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years professional software development, 3+ in senior/lead or tech leadership.
- Proven delivery of shipped products or platforms; comfort operating lean and hands-on.
- Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, with a preference for experience in UE4 or earlier versions.
- Strong C++ and/or other systems languages; deep understanding of runtime performance, memory, and build systems.
- Track record with console development or porting, including optimization and certification workflows.
- Clear communication, planning, and stakeholder alignment skills.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Ark ASA or Atlas Modkit environments.

Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000 Annually
