Job Summary
Electronic Arts is seeking a Senior Technical Artist - Audio for its Frostbite engine team in Vancouver. This role involves being the voice of audio content creators, providing insights for tool development, building audio examples, creating documentation, advising game teams on audio solutions, and supporting content migration. The ideal candidate will have experience with industry-standard audio tools, game sound design, and sound implementation in game engines like Unreal, Unity, FMOD, or Wwise, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Must Have
- Communicate audio content creator feedback to engineering teams.

- Write documentation and create training materials.

- Support migration of game content to new Frostbite audio features.

- Industry experience in game sound design.

- Shipped 2+ games.
Good to Have
- Experience with recording sessions for music, voice, and sound effects.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as LUA or Python.
- Experience with node-based visual programming (e.g. Max/Msp, Pd).
- Shipped a AAA title.
- Experience with Atlassian Confluence, Jira Software, Coda, or similar tools.

The Senior Technical Artist will report to the Technical Art Director.
What you'll do:
- Be the voice of the audio content creator, communicating feedback to engineering teams.
- Provide insights using your experience as an audio content creator to validate the development of new tools and workflows.
- Build compelling audio examples to demonstrate the power of the engine and inspire the community.
- Write documentation and create training materials.
- Work with game teams to advise on solutions and best practices to achieve their project's audio goals.
- Support and guide the migration of game content to use new features and technologies developed by the Frostbite Audio team.
- Mentor members of the Frostbite Audio community, including other Technical Artists and Quality Designers.
- Keep up-to-date with industry standards and game audio production techniques to help inform workflow and feature development.
You will have:
- Working knowledge of industry-standard audio tools (e.g. Pro-Tools, Ableton Live)
- Industry experience in game sound design (e.g., mixing, implementation, asset creation, sound design)
- 5+ years experience with sound implementation in games, either using Unreal, Unity, FMOD, Wwise, or equivalent toolset
- Shipped 2+ games
Bonus:
- Experience with recording sessions for music, voice, and sound effects.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as LUA or Python.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$119,600 - $167,300 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
