Job Summary
The Narrative Designer is responsible for conceiving and integrating coherent and immersive narrative experiences within the game. They define how story, gameplay, systems, and level design interact to offer an engaging player experience. The Narrative Designer works closely with game design & level design, scenario, artistic direction, and production teams. Key missions include interpreting creative vision, collaborating on narrative architecture, supporting game design, and writing narrative elements.
Must Have
- Interpret and concretize the creative vision of the Directors.
- Collaborate with Level Designers and Environment Artists to design the game's narrative architecture and systems.
- Work closely with writers to develop the game's narrative arc and integrate the story into gameplay.
- Support the Game Design team by contextualizing game systems, mechanics, and features.
- Be the reference point for Montreal teams to streamline communication and harmonize narrative intentions.
- Design and write all narrative elements, including scripts, environment descriptions, and ambiance directives.
- Excellent understanding of fundamental game design principles and processes.
- Good understanding of narrative elements across all genres and media.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good knowledge of the game production pipeline.
- Ability to collaborate and respond to feedback/notes professionally and on time.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
- Ability to adapt to development changes.

Job Description
The Narrative Designer is responsible for conceiving and integrating coherent and immersive narrative experiences within the game. They define how story, gameplay, systems, and level design interact to offer an engaging player experience. The Narrative Designer works closely with game design & level design, scenario, artistic direction, and production teams.
Main Missions:
- Interpret and concretize the creative vision of the Directors, by translating their narrative intentions into playable and engaging content.
- Collaborate with Level Designers and Environment Artists to design the game's narrative architecture (arcs, structure, rhythm, branching) and develop narrative systems such as quests, interactive dialogues, worldbuilding, and narrative progression.
- Work closely with writers to develop the game's narrative arc and integrate the story fluidly into gameplay.
- Support the Game Design team by contextualizing game systems, mechanics, and features in coherence with the universe, tone, and narrative logic.
- Be the reference point for the Montreal teams to streamline communication and harmonize narrative intentions between studios.
- Design and write all narrative elements, including scripts, environment descriptions, and directives related to the game's ambiance.
