Job Summary
The Native Content Editor will serve as a pivotal commercial leader, responsible for defining the branded content voice for a major Australian youth publisher. This role involves collaborating with global brands to create high-quality, editorially sound partner content. Reporting to the Head of Editorial, the editor will balance creative excellence with commercial goals, ensuring all content meets the high standards expected by both readers and clients. Key responsibilities include overseeing native written, social, and video content, leading client brief responses, managing a native team, and acting as an editorial guardian for commercial content relevant to millennial and Gen Z audiences.
Must Have
- Oversee all native written, social, and video content across PEDESTRIAN.TV and its affiliated channels.
- Lead client brief responses from ideation to execution, producing content where required, and clearly rationalising editorial solutions.
- Manage and mentor the native team, fostering creative excellence through constructive feedback and skill development.
- Confidently navigate and prioritise competing objectives across internal and external stakeholders, providing solutions-focused leadership.
- Act as the editorial guardian on all commercial content, ensuring relevance for the millennial and Gen Z audience.
- Leverage audience data, trend insights, and campaign analytics to inform and adapt creative strategy.
- Generate proactive, out-of-the-box ideas for use in the market, acting as the go-to native content expert.
- Prior editorial experience, demonstrating an appreciation for quality native content as a reader service.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for effective stakeholder management.
- Exceptional writing, grammar, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone to suit various campaigns.
- Strong time management skills and a demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Prior experience or strong interest in audience growth, conversion, and leveraging analytics for strategy.
- Familiarity with best SEO practices, Yoast, and CMS platforms such as Wordpress.
- A proactive approach and the foresight to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
