TEAM INTRODUCTION The Virtual Network team builds next-generation packet processing platforms leveraging the cutting-edge hardware and software technologies meeting the extreme scale and performance requirements arising from the hyper-scale cloud networking environment of both public clouds and private clouds. The team is responsible for developing innovative and hybrid P4/Tofino/DPU/Smart NIC based gateway acceleration solutions, advanced DPDK/EBPF/XDP/DPU based host networking acceleration solutions to support RDMA and AI/ML/LLM scenarios and large scale container network offloads, state-of-art virtual & physical network intelligent monitoring and diagnosing system services. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2025. Internships at TikTok aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following start dates below: - Monday, May 12 - Monday, May 19 - Tuesday May 27 (Memorial Day May 27) - Monday, June 9 - Monday, June 23 RESPONSIBILITIES This internship provides students the opportunity to join one of our engineering teams where you will have the opportunity to: • Explore, define, and develop novel unified hardware/software solutions to accelerate hyper-scale internet & cross-region gateways • Innovate and collaborate on RDMA technologies to support AI/ML/LLM business scenarios • Design and develop container network offloading technologies using the latest software & hardware advancements such as DOCA, DSA, and BF3, etc. • Design and develop unified network monitoring and diagnosing systems across both virtual and physical networks to improve the overall networking availability and stability • Collaborate with network operation and maintenance team members to support oversea networking infrastructure services, especially on P4 based virtual network gateways

Minimum Qualifications: • Currently pursuing a PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. • Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2025 • Familiar with common network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc., and basic Linux network protocol stacks and tools • Proficiency in using one or several mainstream programming languages C++, Python, Go, Java • Quick learning and adaptability; perseverance and spirit of studying technical details; good at communication and exchange • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
