Job Description

Reporting to the Quebec Province OHS Manager and working closely with company managers, the OHS advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling activities related to the prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases for assigned sites (Ottawa, Abitibi regions, and other Quebec sites). This role involves acting as a change agent for OHS culture, advising managers, developing and implementing OHS programs, conducting inspections and risk analyses, investigating accidents, and ensuring employee training.
Must have:
  • Act as a change agent for the development of an OHS culture
  • Advise and support managers on their various OHS files
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of various OHS programs, procedures, and tools
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to ensure safety standards are met
  • Perform professional risk analyses and propose prevention measures
  • Lead investigations and analyses of work accidents jointly with operations managers
  • Participate and collaborate with authorities during inspections or investigations (CNESST, fire department, CIUSSS, etc.)
  • Ensure OHS training is completed by employees and, if necessary, provide required training
  • Prepare and lead OHS committees and meetings for assigned sites
  • Respond to information requests from employees and clients regarding OHS
  • Perform all other related duties

Job Description

Reporting to the Quebec Province OHS Manager, and working in close collaboration with company managers, the OHS advisor is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling activities related to the prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases for the sites entrusted to them (Ottawa, Abitibi regions, and some other sites in the province of Quebec).

  • Acts as a change agent for the development of an OHS culture;
  • Advises and supports managers regarding their various OHS files;
  • Collaborates in the development and implementation of various OHS programs, procedures, and tools in OHS;
  • Conducts regular workplace inspections to ensure safety standards are respected;
  • Performs professional risk analyses and proposes prevention measures;
  • Leads investigations and analyses of work accidents jointly with operations managers;
  • Participates and collaborates with authorities during inspections or investigations (CNESST, fire department, CIUSSS, etc.);
  • Ensures that OHS training is completed by employees and, if necessary, provides the required training;
  • Prepares and leads OHS committees and meetings for the sites entrusted to them;
  • Responds to information requests from employees and clients concerning OHS;
  • Performs all other related duties in connection with their functions.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university certificate in OHS;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite;
  • Bilingualism (an asset);
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be available to travel between the company's various sites.
