Staalbouw Hendriks once started as a blacksmith shop and has grown into an innovative specialist in designing, producing, and assembling complex steel structures, stairs, platforms, canopies, and art objects – executed in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. In many cases, these constructions are realized in production companies, particularly in the food and feed industry, with minimal impact on continuity. About the role – position in the organization

The management team, consisting of the Operational & Commercial Director (vacant), the Technical Commercial Manager, and the Financial Director, reports to the General Director (DGA). The DGA provides ample space for leaders who combine substantive involvement, autonomy, and responsibility. This offers many degrees of freedom, with decisiveness and craftsmanship as guiding principles, but naturally also requires good coordination within the management team.

About the role – scope

In short, as Operational & Commercial Director, you are responsible for production, the internal office, and commerce. You work in the management team with the Technical Commercial Manager, who is responsible for (external) construction projects and (Key) account management. Additionally, the Financial Director is part of the management team and, besides Finance, is responsible for HR, ICT, and internal project and process management. The DGA (chairman) gives a lot of space to the management team and has a more general portfolio with special attention to purchasing and calculation.

About the role - Tasks and responsibilities

As Operational & Commercial Director, you will determine the course for the coming years together with your colleagues in the management team – and ensure that this course is actually followed.

Your tasks and responsibilities can be briefly summarized as follows:

• You develop the strategic course for the organization together with the management team, with a long-term vision on growth, innovation, and continuity;
• You translate strategic policy into concrete annual plans and ensure the implementation, monitoring, and adjustment of operational and financial objectives;
• You lead the daily operation of sales, internal office, production, logistics, planning, and KAM, with a focus on efficiency, quality, and results;
• As the commercial engine of the organization, you actively identify and develop new sales opportunities and build existing and new customer relationships. With this, you generate new business that further broadens the market position of Staalbouw Hendriks - Van Grinsven Metaalbewerking and ensures stable, profitable growth;
• You are keen on process improvement and innovation, by initiating, implementing, and safeguarding optimizations in the organization;
• You provide inspiring and clear leadership to the operational team, with attention to collaboration, safety, and professional development;
• You ensure tight planning, quality control, and compliance with standards in the areas of safety, environment, and production (quality);
• You report periodically within the management team on progress, performance, and financial results related to your areas of focus.

About the role – very interesting growth perspective

Staalbouw Hendriks - Van Grinsven Metaalbewerking offers the appointed Operational & Commercial Director the opportunity to grow into the General Director position in due course, with the DGA stepping down as General Director. In the selection process for the vacancy, there is a preference for candidates with this ambition. The period in which the Operational & Commercial Director position is held can then be considered a prelude and gradual induction process. You have experience in a production- and project-oriented environment, preferably in steel construction and the manufacturing industry, and feel at home in the dynamic of a family business. You combine business and technical insight with people-oriented leadership and commercial intelligence.

You effortlessly switch between strategy and execution and know what it takes to get an organization moving—even if the lines are not always strictly drawn. You understand the dynamics that belong to a Brabant, relatively small-scale, and family-feeling company in the manufacturing industry. At the same time, you are commercially strong: you build relationships, see opportunities, and dare to enter the market to attract new clients. As Operational & Commercial Director, you are able to naturally take on leadership in the organization and you enjoy working in a context where not everything is fixed but where much is possible for those who take initiative.
