Payroll Specialist

Role:

We are looking for a highly experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all payroll activities, benefits reporting, and tax filings across our Cyprus-based workforce, which includes both local and international employees. You will work cross-functionally with department leads, HR systems, and external accountants to ensure our payroll is fully compliant, smooth, and transparent.

Tasks to be solved:

• Manage end-to-end payroll operations using Payroll Pro software.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, salary templates, and reports using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
• Accurately prepare and file IR1 annual forms and IR59 forms for Cyprus-based and foreign employees.
• Communicate with department leads to gather monthly salary changes, bonuses, promotions, benefits in kind, and any other payroll-impacting changes.
• Liaise with our external accountants to provide complete and timely monthly payroll data.
• Handle tax allowances under Articles 8(21A) and 8(23A) and advising correctly for eligible employees.
• Oversee payslip distribution and ensure each employee securely receives their monthly payslip.
• Ensure proper treatment of benefits in kind according to Cypriot regulations.
• Support internal HR systems like HiBob and align payroll records with employee data.
• Collaborate on payroll-related audits, financial reconciliations, and internal process improvements.
• Calculate salaries for new joiners based on their agreed salary package and actual working days during the onboarding month.
• Accurately compute overtime bonuses and extra compensations for employees who work additional hours, ensuring alignment with salary structure and monthly working days.
• Maintain a structured digital archive on the company server with all supporting documentation related to compensations, bonuses, adjustments, and payroll-related approvals, ensuring accessibility and compliance.

Job requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a dedicated payroll department, preferably in Cyprus.
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Human Resource Management is preferred.
• Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel.
• In-depth knowledge of IR59, IR1, Cypriot payroll taxation, and tax relief schemes under Articles 8(21A) and 8(23A).
• Familiarity with HR software systems such as HiBob and Payroll software systems such as Payroll Pro is a strong plus.
• Strong communication skills in both Greek and English, with the ability to interact with team leads and external partners.
• High attention to detail, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential information.
