Job Details

About us:

Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 13 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our latest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Drive the strategic vision for production technology, ensuring alignment between pipeline infrastructure, production needs, and long-term studio goals.

  • Define and own the technical roadmap across shows, balancing innovation with operational stability and cross-team scalability.

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.

  • Oversee project management for key technical initiatives — from scoping and prioritisation to delivery — using agile, iterative practices and clear milestone tracking.

  • Collaborate closely with production, leads/manager and studio leadership to proactively identify workflow gaps, manage risk, and deliver systems that support efficient content creation.

  • Manage communication between stakeholders and technical teams, translating creative and production goals into actionable development plans.

  • Coordinate evaluation, integration, and lifecycle support for both proprietary code and third-party software tools (e.g., Unreal Engine, Maya, Houdini, ShotGrid, Adobe Suite).

  • Ensure robust documentation, testing, and version control practices are in place to maintain production continuity and pipeline reliability.

  • Track and analyse pipeline performance metrics, championing continuous improvement and smart scaling as production volume increases.

  • Contribute to studio-wide technology planning and budget forecasting in partnership with the Head of Production and CEO.

A successful candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of experience in a senior technical or pipeline leadership role within an animation, VFX, or interactive content studio.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and deliver complex, cross-functional projects on time and within scope.

  • Strong understanding of modern production workflows, pipeline design, and DCC software ecosystems (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Unreal, ShotGrid, Substance Painter, ToonBoom Harmony, Storyboard Pro).

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and long-term planning capabilities, with experience setting roadmaps and scaling technology solutions.

  • Deep knowledge of project management methodologies, tools (e.g., Jira, Notion), and development workflows (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to align diverse technical and non-technical groups.

  • Familiarity with scripting or coding in Python and/or similar languages — hands-on skills are valued, though this role is more management-focused.

  • Experience integrating third-party solutions, managing vendor relationships, or evaluating build vs. buy decisions.

  • A collaborative, people-first mindset with a bias toward action, continuous improvement, and thoughtful leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a technical leadership capacity.

Bonus Skills:

  • Formal training or certification in Agile, Scrum, or PMI project management..

  • Engaging personality and willingness to learn.

  • Experience with Perforce/Helix Core.

  • Positive, go-getter attitude with a passion for making things.

What We Offer

  • A competitive starting salary with reviews every 6 months.

  • A flexible work arrangement and schedule, with options for work from home and flexi-hours.

  • A casual and fun office environment where individual input is valued.

  • Regular work functions and free entry to conventions and events.

  • Close to public transport in the heart of Parramatta CBD.

  • Paid for gym memberships.

  • Regular company breakfasts/lunches.

  • A diverse team that values independent input and career development.
