Job Description

As a Pixel Development Engineer in Apple's Camera Technologies group, you will design and develop innovative technology for camera systems, from sensor to lens. You will evaluate sophisticated pixel technology, collaborate with global image sensor suppliers to develop new sensors, and ensure accurate testing at all stages. This role involves detailing and presenting results to engineering teams, contributing to next-generation camera products and features, and crafting a magical photography experience for millions of customers.
Must Have:
  • Evaluate sophisticated pixel technology from global image sensor vendors.
  • Collaborate with global image sensor suppliers for new sensor development.
  • Ensure sufficient and accurate testing at all stages for performance guarantee.
  • Document and present results to internal and external engineering teams.
  • BS degree and relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, MATLAB, or Excel).
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in image sensor pixel/sensor development, characterization, bring-up, debug, or wafer-level testing.
  • Familiarity with image sensor technology, performance, usage, and camera system integration.
  • Experience with general industry trends and technical challenges.
  • Knowledgeable in sensor usage to efficiently work with and support the camera team.

As part of our Camera Technologies group, youʼll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last.

Youʼll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. Youʼll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, weʼll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.

  • You will be involved with evaluating sophisticated pixel technology from global image sensor vendors.
  • Collaborate with global image sensor suppliers to develop new image sensors for different applications.
  • You will work with internal and external teams to ensure that sufficient and accurate testing is implemented at all stages to guarantee performance. Additionally, you will detail and present your results to both internal and external engineering teams, all within a multi-functional collaboration effort to develop next-generation camera products and features.
  • BS and relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (JMP or MATLAB or Excel, etc).
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in image sensor pixel and sensor development, sensor characterization, sensor bring-up and debug, or wafer-level testing.
  • Familiar with image sensor technology, image sensor performance metrics, image sensor usage, and integration into camera systems.
  • Experience with general industry trends and technical challenges.
  • Knowledgeable enough in all aspects of sensor usage that you can efficiently work with and support the camera team.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
