Power BI Architect/Principal

JOB OVERVIEW

Plan A Technologies is looking for an outstanding Power BI Architect/Principal, with experience in collaborating with business units to gather requirements, transforming data into actionable insights, and working with the Quality team to ensure requirements are achieved. This is a fast-paced job with room for significant career growth. 

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience as a Power BI Engineer to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• The Power BI Architect/Principal is responsible for design, development, and maintenance of Microsoft Power BI solutions. This role involves collaborating with business units to gather requirements, transforming data into actionable insights, and working with the Quality team to ensure requirements were achieved.

• Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to meet the business requirements.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting and data analysis requirements and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.

• Design and develop data models and data transformations in Power BI to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.

• Perform data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and work with the data team to resolve them.

• Ensure the scalability and performance of Power BI solutions.

• Monitor and troubleshoot Power BI solutions to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Document technical specifications, data mappings, and solution designs for Power BI projects.

• Partner with data engineers to develop and maintain data definitions, data lineage and data cataloging using best in-class solutions.

EXPERIENCE

• 5-10 years of proven work experience with Power BI development.

• Extensive experience architecting and implementing Power BI solutions
  (preferably with B2C experience).

• Expert understanding of PowerBI Premium platform including workspaces, deployment pipelines, dataset creation and maintenance; data hub exploration, PowerBI desktop and Report Builder Client Tools.

• Proven experience in developing complex Power BI solutions is required.

• Experience using Git (Azure DevOps) to manage Power BI datasets and reports.

• Ability to get hands-on with diagnosing issues and performance improvements in
  semantic models and reports.

• Proven experience in the use of ALM Toolkit and Visual Studio or Tabular Editor.

• Strong understanding of DAX Studio and Power Query to support data analysis and similar functions.

• Expert understanding of Microsoft Excel and integration points with Power BI.

• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, Python, and DBT are a plus.

• Drive initiatives and tasks to successful completion with minimal supervision,
  demonstrating strong ownership, self-direction, and accountability throughout.

• Ability to mentor and guide junior developers.

• Communicates clearly with stakeholders, developers, and leadership.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving solving and organizational skills.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Must have an organized and analytical working style, and the ability to plan your own work.

• Initiative and drive to do great things.
