Job Summary

Join the Power Systems department as a Power Line Specialist and contribute to sustainable change. You will work on a wide range of tasks for various clients, developing expertise in power line technology. This role involves technical contributions and leadership in power lines across HV projects, working with an international team on projects from power lines and transformer stations in Norway to data center parks and offshore wind projects in Europe and APAC. You will be a driving force in advancing our power line competence to a higher technical level.

Must Have

  • Deliver design for power line projects including PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower modeling
  • Configure, manage, and run standard tools for power line calculations
  • Establish processes for delivering power line parameters (transmission capacity, sag, noise, impedances, costs, wind load, ice load, etc.) for projects
  • Provide power line-related support for on- and offshore projects from 10 kV to 525 kV (AC and DC)
  • Provide advice to clients on power line selection, test requirements, etc.
  • Write technical requirements for power line systems, including accessories
  • Knowledge of MV- and HV-overhead line systems including software like PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for scope, assumptions, and decisions with clients
  • PhD or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Eager to make a difference in the green energy transition
  • Thrives in managing stakeholders and expanding your network
  • Fluent in Norwegian (at least B2 level)

Your new position

As our new Power Line Specialist, you will be able to test yourself on a wide range of tasks for many different clients, while being the driving force behind developing our expertise in power line technology to an even higher technical level. You will contribute as a technical contributor and technical leader in power lines across all our HV projects. You will be part of our Power Systems department, which is international, and thus you will have colleagues located across Europe. At Rambøll, we work on a variety of projects from power line and transformer station projects in Norway, data center parks to offshore wind projects in Europe and APAC.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Deliver design for power line projects including PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower modeling
  • Configure, manage, and run standard tools for calculating power lines
  • Establish processes for delivering power line parameters (transmission capacity, sag, noise, impedances, costs, wind load, ice load, etc.) for projects
  • Provide power line-related support for on- and offshore projects from 10 kV to 525 kV (AC and DC)
  • Provide advice and guidance to our clients on power line selection, test requirements, etc.
  • Write technical requirements for power line systems, including accessories

About you

  • You have knowledge of MV- and HV-overhead line systems including software such as PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower
  • You like to take responsibility for our scope, i.e., are comfortable making assumptions and decisions together with our clients
  • You have a PhD or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • You are eager to make a difference in the green energy transition
  • You thrive in managing stakeholders and expanding your network
  • You speak and write Norwegian fluently or at least at B2 level
