Principal Applied Research Engineer / Scientist

As a Principal Applied Research Engineer/Scientist, you will lead the entire ML development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative AI technologies. You'll be responsible for designing high-performance ML models, influencing ML tooling and infrastructure, managing evaluation efforts, and implementing model inference solutions. This role emphasizes rapid iteration to bring models into reality. You will work closely with hardware, software, and design teams across Apple, contributing to projects that could redefine user experiences and technological capabilities. Your responsibilities include designing, building, and implementing production-ready ML models, driving data generation and evaluation, developing and optimizing model inference solutions, prototyping AI solutions, communicating research directions, influencing modeling architecture decisions, and translating research innovations into practical implementations.
