Job Description
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields, with good publication record
- Experiences in building large scale machine learning or agentic systems
- Experience in one or more of the following ML areas: generative AI models, deep learning, computer vision
- Understanding of NLP fundamentals including embedding generation, text similarity, entity recognition
- 2+ years of software development experience
- strong programming skills in Scala, Python or Java
- 2+ years of experience working with large scale and real world datasets
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Tasked with building the world’s best map you will use large data sets, distributed processing systems, domain expertise, and top-notch development skills to ensure a complete and accurate map. We are looking for passionate, creative software engineers motivated by challenging problems of scale that impact every Maps user.
Our team combines disparate signals such as data analytics, community engagement, and user feedback to improve the Maps Platform. Combining these signals requires a comprehensive tool chain built around data modeling, processing, visualization, debugging, and editing. On any given day, you will be proposing, implementing, evaluating, and shipping different technologies and resulting data to achieve a given task.
- As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled engineers and scientists to bring new experiences to Apple Maps! This position requires a self-motivated engineer/scientist with strong technical and interpersonal skills.
