Principal Engineer, AI, Trust, Security, Site Reliability Engineering
Job Summary
Job Description
This Principal Engineer role focuses on building a stable, secure, and trustworthy integrated cloud AI platform. Responsibilities include balancing feature velocity with reliability, security, and cost efficiency; partnering with various teams to set technical direction for AI, trust, and security; challenging existing approaches to improve platform reliability, security, and resilience; and contributing to complex technical projects and product decisions. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, AI, security, and reliability engineering, and experience leading and influencing teams within a multinational organization.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
- Technical leadership experience
- Distributed systems architecture/design/development
- Experience in security, reliability, and resilience
- Large-scale user impact experience
Good to have:
- Executive-level project leadership
- Cross-organizational collaboration
- AI/security program development & implementation
- Understanding of compute, networking, and application stacks

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in technical leadership and setting technical direction for engineering projects.
- Experience in architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Leadership experience in the security, reliability and resilience space. Experience having impact over a large-scale of users.
- Experience leading and implementing engineering projects at an executive level within multinational and distributed organizations.
- Experience partnering and leading by influence, as well as working with stakeholders and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
- Experience developing and implementing technical programs in security or AI engineering or product/platform design.
- Understanding of compute, networking, application stacks, and supporting product features, services, and technologies.

- Contribute to our most complex technical projects and externally visible product decisions, using your technical acumen, problem-solving abilities, and good judgment to help build scalable and future-proof Google systems.
