Job Description

This role involves functional safety technology and trends vision, actively monitoring automotive safety trends, competitor strategies, and benchmarking technical solutions. The engineer will anticipate internal and external safety needs and respond to technical safety questions. Responsibilities include participation in ISO committees, influencing Aptiv's future safety architecture, leading deployment of Model/Software in the loop safety activities, adapting LET paradigms, and fostering strong relationships with System and Hardware Functional Safety Engineers. The role also entails supporting customer projects, engaging in safety escalations, driving Aptiv/Wind River Linux safety compliance, mentoring engineering teams on safety policies, and contributing to process development and training. The position emphasizes integrating functional safety into DevOps/CI-CD and developing tools for product safety development, including AI assistance.
Must have:
  • Bachelor/Master's in Business, IT, or similar
  • Knowledge in ADAS/ADS/Cockpit systems and SDV/SVA
  • Knowledge of Automotive Regulations and Standards
  • Strong knowledge in ISO 26262 and ISO/PAS 8800
  • Good knowledge in MIL/SIL
  • Expertise in FFI concept
  • SW safety analysis (FMEA, FTA, Critical Path)
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Linux) and safety solutions
  • Strong knowledge of AUTOSAR
  • Good knowledge of LET paradigm
  • Good knowledge of A-SPICE 4.0
  • Ability to lead key issues
  • Ability to teach and listen to teams
  • Ability to interpret global ecosystem trends
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Job Details

Your role:

 

Functional Safety Technology and Trends vision

  • Actively monitoring the new automotive safety trends: products, process, tooling

  • Actively monitor and gather information about the competitors’ software safety technical solutions & strategies

  • Benchmark and analyze the competitor’s software safety technical solutions

  • Anticipate the internal & external safety needs

  • On customer and leadership requests, act with urgency and be ready to answer any technical safety question

 

ISO 26262 (FuSa) & ISO/PAS 8800 (Safety and AI)

  • Participate in associated ISO committees for influencing and analyzing and anticipating compliance needs

  • Participate in any relevant Software international organization, including tooling

 

Software Safety Technical Leadership, Project Support and Innovation

  • Provide technical Software safety leadership for influencing the Aptiv safety architecture of the future

  • Lead the deployment of Model/Software in the loop safety related activities

  • Lead the adaptation of LET paradigm in Software design and leverage the increased predictability to improve the overall system’s reliability and safety

  • Create a strong relationship with the Principal System and Hardware Functional Safety Engineers and develop synergies between the SYS/HW/SW domains

  • Create a strong network in the Aptiv Safety & SW communities, across different teams and functions

  • Provide technical support and respond to executive leadership requests with urgency

  • Determine the internal teams and external suppliers’ safety requirements and responsibilities

 

Operation

  • Support customer projects, on request, from end to end

  • Engage in safety escalation for problem resolutions

  • Drive our Aptiv/Wind River Linux safety compliant solution strategy and push it for adoption

 

Process Development and Training

  • Mentor and support the engineering team, including the safety teams, for executing the safety policies and Software safety lifecycle processes

  • Contribute to continuous development or enhancement of the Safety processes based on lessons learned or new compliance requirements

  • Promoter the deployment of MIL/SIL (Model/Software in the Loop) through the Safety angle

  • Integrate functional safety lifecycle processes in DevOps/CI-CD

  • Develop or support the development of methods and tools for streamlining product safety development, including AI assistance

Your background:

 

  • Bachelor and //or Master’s degree in Business, IT or similar

  • Good Knowledge in ADAS/ADS/Cockpit systems and in SDV/SVA

  • Good knowledge of Automotive Regulations, Standards

  • Strong knowledge in ISO 26262 (FuSa) & ISO/PAS 8800 (Safety and AI)

  • Good knowledge in MIL/SIL (Model/Software in the Loop)

Referent in

  • FFI concept

  • SW safety analysis, such as SW FMEA, SW FTA, SW Critical Path Analysis

  • Commercial tool supporting SW Safety analysis

  • SW partitioning

  • Mixed criticality system

  • ETC

  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems, including Linux, and safety solutions from the different Automotive market suppliers

  • Strong knowledge of AUTOSAR (MCAL, BSW, RTE, Complex Drivers, Application Layer …) and safety solutions from the different Automotive market suppliers

  • Good knowledge in LET paradigm – understand how to take advantage of ENOS product to improve the system safety in general

  • Good knowledge of A-SPICE 4.0

  • Knowledge of automotive development processes

  • Demonstrated ability to take the lead on key issues

  • Ability to teach and listen to teams

  • Ability to interpret the various trends and currents in the global ecosystem that impact APTIV

  • fluent in English (written and spoken) and ideally good German language skills
