Job Description

The Product Manager will research and identify potential new products or service trends, evaluating their potential for success. They will interpret customer needs into new features and product offerings, developing product planning direction and prioritizing the new product roadmap. This individual contributor will lead product lifecycle activities, bring new products to market, specify market requirements, develop product pricing and positioning strategies, and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact. They will also work closely with various internal teams to support new product launches and strategize with Marketing Communications to define product positioning. Furthermore, they will drive Beta trials to gather customer feedback. They should have 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Product Planning/Product Marketing/Product Management/Technical Sales.
Must have:
  • Degree in Engineering, preferable in Electrical, Software or System Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Product Planning/Product Marketing/Product Management/Technical Sales.
  • Strong technical aptitude & analytical skills a must.
Good to have:
  • Business Degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in wireless or communications devices.
  • Experience in working with global or regional teams is preferred.

Department Overview

The PCR Devices Product Management Team oversees a multi-million portfolio of Motorola products sold globally through direct, distributor and dealer channels. The Product Management Team is responsible for reviewing market opportunities and disruptive technologies to build successful portfolio strategies. The Product Management team analyzes market conditions, competitive threats and evolving customer needs to determine profitable platform and product line strategies. The Product Management team is also responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle.


Job Description

Researches and identifies potential new products or service trends and evaluates their potential for success in the targeted marketplace. Interprets customer needs into new features and new product offerings through collaboration with product marketing, sales, engineering, finance, and other relevant departments. Develops product planning direction and prioritizes the new product roadmap.

  • This is an individual contributor position who will assume the leadership role in managing product lifecycle activities.

  • Bring new products to market by creating proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.

  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research for new products, associated trends, & competitive intelligence.

  • Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.

  • Scope and prioritize activities of the Product Management team based on business and customer impact.

  • Work closely with internal/external sales and channel partners, material planning/supply chain, marketing, customer service, order admin, service/repair, quality, engineering, accessories/parts, to support new product launches.

  • Strategize with Marketing Communications to define and communicate product positioning and key product messages to regional go-to-market teams and end customers.

  • Drive Beta trials to gather customer feedback

Basic Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, preferable in Electrical, Software or System Engineering. 

  • Business Degree is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Product Planning/Product Marketing/Product Management/Technical Sales.   Experience in wireless or communications devices such as two-way radios, pagers, mobile phones, IOT, etc., is preferred.

  • Experience in working with global or regional teams is preferred.

  • Strong technical aptitude & analytical skills a must.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
