Job Summary

Pentair is seeking a Product Quality Engineer in Chardon, Ohio. This role involves collaborating with R&D on product design and compliance, developing and executing quality control tests, and investigating manufacturing issues. The engineer will maintain the Quality Management System, manage supplier quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include analyzing quality metrics and preparing reports, ensuring products meet specifications and regulatory requirements.

Must Have

  • Work with R&D teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop test plans, conduct inspections, and perform routine testing on materials, components, and finished products.
  • Investigate product complaints and manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update the Quality Management System, including procedures and documentation (ISO 9001 focus).
  • Evaluate potential suppliers, conduct quality audits, and collaborate to improve quality performance.
  • Drive process enhancements and product quality initiatives through Lean and continuous improvement projects.
  • Analyze quality metrics, track performance, and prepare reports on quality issues for management review.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 2 or more years of experience

We have an opportunity for a Product Quality Engineer to join our team.

You will:

  • Product Development and Compliance: Work with R&D teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and meet all regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Quality Control and Testing: Develop test plans, conduct inspections, and perform routine testing on materials, components, and finished products to verify they meet specifications.
  • Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate product complaints and manufacturing issues, identify root causes using structured techniques, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS): Maintain and update the Quality Management System, including procedures, documentation, and work instructions, with a focus on standards like ISO 9001.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate potential suppliers, conduct quality audits, and collaborate with suppliers to improve overall quality performance and resolve non-conformance issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process enhancements and product quality initiatives by participating in Lean and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Reporting and Data Analysis: Analyze quality metrics, track performance, and prepare reports on quality issues, corrective actions, and overall product quality for management review.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • 2 or more years of experience
  • Good project management skills are essential.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of engineering calculation tools a plus (MathCad, Matlab and/or similar)
  • Ability to work within and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, have solid organizational skills, be capable of multi-tasking and have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well with a cross-functional team.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $52700 - $97900 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as an annual incentive bonus.
