Job Summary
As a Production Engineer at PhonePe, you will join a centralized team responsible for routine production operational tasks, including Operating System Vulnerability Patching and Software/Configuration Upgrades. You will collaborate with other SRE teams to ensure critical changes are implemented, keeping systems updated with OS Vulnerability Management. The role involves working on well-defined tasks and adhering to predefined Standard Operating Procedures.
Must Have
- Deploying Operating System Vulnerability fixes
- Deploying configuration/monitoring changes to production systems
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in Linux / Unix systems (for G1)
- 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Linux / Unix systems (for G2)
- Hands-on experience in Linux Commands & command-line tools and handling Linux Servers in Production Environment
- Familiarity with software installation and configuration
- Knowledge of common network protocols and technologies
- Knowledge of configuration management using either Saltstack or equivalent
- Good communication skills
Good to Have
- Knowledge of Linux Package Management Tools like APT or YUM
- Understanding of System & Linux Log files
- Troubleshooting of basic issues in Linux Systems

About the Role
As a Production Engineer, you'll be part of a centralized team responsible for carrying out routine production operational tasks such as Operating System Vulnerability Patching and Software / Configuration Upgrades. You'll work with other SRE teams, ensuring crucial changes are made to keep our systems up to date with OS Vulnerability Management. You will be expected to work on well-defined tasks, following predefined SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Deploying Operating System Vulnerability fixes.
- Deploying configuration/ monitoring changes to production systems.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in Linux / Unix systems for G1
- 4-5 years of hands on experience for G2
- Hands-on experience in Linux Commands & command-line tools and handling Linux Servers in Production Environment
- Familiarity with software installation and configuration
- Knowledge of common network protocols and technologies
- Knowledge of configuration management using either Saltstack or equivalent

Note: Please note that this position requires shift work, and you will be expected to participate in a 24/7 shift rotation as part of your regular schedule.
