Job Summary

Western Digital is seeking a Principle Engineer for Lube Process to lead project propagation and continual improvement. This role involves failure analysis, problem-solving, and acting as a chief technical advisor. Responsibilities include process capability development, Cpk and Gauge R&R improvement, new product implementation, cost savings, and yield/defect/quality improvements. The engineer will also be involved in new software buy-off, equipment development synergy, machine PPH improvement, second source development, documentation, FMEA leadership, and new equipment qualification.

Must Have

  • Lead project propagation and process continual improvement for Lube Process.
  • Perform failure analysis and problem solving related to Lube Process.
  • Act as chief technical advisor and trainer related to Lube Process.
  • Carry out process capability and development programs related to Lube Process.
  • Carry out Lube Cpk, instruments’ EMP and Gauge R&R improvement activities.
  • Process transfer for new products implementation.
  • Plan and implement cost improvements or savings for Lube Process.
  • Drive Yield/Defect/Quality improvement.
  • New software and project propagation buy off.
  • Synergy with ETA for new equipment development.
  • Machine PPH Improvement via process development and improvement.
  • Assist second source development for Lube Process.
  • Maintain and establish documentation and FMEA leadership for Lube Process.
  • New Equipment Qualification.
  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic / Mechanical /Chemical Engineering/ Physics or equivalent.
  • Computer knowledge such as MS Excel data compilation.
  • In depth knowledge of data analysis software such as Minitab / JMP.
  • Strong statistical knowledge.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in process or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge on HDD media cleaning.
  • Demonstrate good leadership and management skill.
  • Experience in managing and supervising a team of engineers.

Good to Have

  • Preferably 7-10 years of working experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lube process and machine troubleshooting.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt holder.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt holder.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic / Mechanical /Chemical Engineering/ Physics or equivalent

  • Strong statistical knowledge, preferably a Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Preferable 7-10 years of working experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lube process and machine troubleshooting is added advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 -5 years experience in process or manufacturing environment.

Required :

  • Knowledge on HDD media cleaning will be advantage.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt holder will be advantage.
  • Demonstrate good leadership and management skill.
  • Experience in manage and supervise a team of engineers.
