Western Digital is seeking a Technologist Test Engineer for System Test in Bangalore. This full-time role involves ensuring product functionality and customer requirements are met through sound test engineering principles. The successful candidate will own product validation, define and execute test plans, lead failure analysis, and perform performance characterization. The role requires expertise in networking, storage technologies like NVME/NVMEOF, automation, and various security protocols, contributing to a brighter, smarter future with Western Digital's data-centric solutions.
Must Have
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Ethernet Storage/Networking.
- Proficiency in Networking protocols and Storage NVME.
- Programming experience utilizing Python or other scripting languages.
- Ability to use sound test engineering principles to ensure product meets functional and customer requirements.
- Ownership of product validation, including test plan definition, execution, and primary lead in failure analysis.
- Primary lead in performing performance characterization of product and tracking down anomalies.
- Contribution to overall test schedule development.
- Writing test plans for new product features, generating test matrices, and test reports.
- Defining new tests based on customer feedback and defect fixes.
- Execution of existing/regression test cases during the entire product development cycle.
- Close collaboration with system test, hardware, ASIC, and firmware engineers to improve test methodology.
- Configuration of customer hardware and software systems and troubleshooting problems.
- Maintenance of customer and test equipment to current revision.
- Comfortable instrumenting changes in Linux Kernel.
- Expert guidance for Automation and Script reviews.
- Experience with Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Download, Secure Debug, Authentication, Attestation, Data in Flight Encryption (IPsec, TLS 1.3, Asymmetric, Symmetric, Quantum-safe Cryptography).

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using sound test engineering principles, knowledge of the product and technology to ensure the product meets functional and customer requirements and is ready to ship on schedule
- Owns product validation regarding test plan definition, test plan execution, and primary lead in failure analysis
- Primary lead in performing performance characterization of product and tracking down any observed anomalies
- Contributes to overall test schedule development
- Writes the test plans for new product features, generates test matrices, test reports, and other relevant test documentation that is required for flawless program execution
- Defines new tests based on customer feedback and defect fixes
- Executes existing/regression test cases for the project during the entire product development cycle
- Works closely with the other system test, hardware, ASIC and firmware engineers to improve test methodology and develop new tests and new strategies
- Configures customer hardware and software systems; troubleshoot problems to get to root cause
- Maintains customer and test equipment to current revision
- Comfortable instrumenting changes in Linux Kernel
