Job Description

Zones is seeking a Project Manager 2 to lead investigations into undefined areas and ambiguous requirements, defining scope, requirements, and measurable deliverables using PMO principles. This role involves partnering with senior stakeholders to improve organization performance through initiatives that increase speed, efficiency, revenue, or reduce costs. The Project Manager 2 will be responsible for formulating strategy, plans, and objectives for programs and projects, ensuring timely completion, and managing scope, budget, and schedules. They will also provide weekly status reports on service engagements, resource utilization, project status, risks, issues, and portfolio status, while ensuring all tasks are resolved within appropriate time constraints. Effective communication with stakeholders, teams, and executive management is crucial.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • PMP, ITIL or equivalent Certification required

Position Overview:

 

The ideal candidate possesses intellectual curiosity, creativity, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and an ability to influence business and technical leaders in a dynamic environment as well as a strong desire to contribute to Zones’ continued success. This person will lead investigations into undefined areas, ambiguous requirements and will define scope, requirements and measurable deliverables that can be executed on using PMO principles.  They create scope and execute initiatives by partnering with senior stakeholders (Partner and Product Management, Purchasing, Operations, IT, Finance, Sales) to understand and prioritize initiatives to improve organization performance. Improvement may constitute increased speed, enhanced efficiency, lower cost, higher revenue or a combination of all.   

 

What you’ll do as the Project Manager 2:

 

Employees employed in the role of Project Manager 2 shall be required to apply their independent mind and demonstrate intellectual abilities in their decision-making.

  • Formulate strategy, plans and measurable objectives for programs and projects
  • Demonstrable improvement of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) vs. baseline measurements developed as part of each project effort
  • Timely completion of project initiatives Identify and drive demonstrable improvement of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) vs. baseline measurements developed as part of each project effort
  • Successful management of project scope, budget and scheduled to ensure timely completion of program and project initiatives
  • Ensure that 100% of all tasks are resolved within appropriate time constraints through proper task management

  • Project Status
  • Risks
  • Issue Mitigation
  • Portfolio Status
  • Timely completion of project initiatives
  • Effective project communications with multiple stakeholders, teams and executive management

What you will bring to the team:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:    

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • PMP, ITIL or equivalent Certification required.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:   

  • 5 plus years of experience in program/ project management, process engineering or strategy within a technology or operations environment
  • Leadership skills: must have experience leading a portfolio of programs, multiple projects and teams.
  • Ability to take ambiguous requirements, conduct investigation and develop strategy.
  • Problem solving skills: must be able to identify risks and develop actionable mitigation plans
  • Analytical skills: must be highly analytical with experience in using objective data to drive strategic recommendations.
  • Communications skills: must be able to concisely explain complex issues, communicate well in writing and verbally, and be able to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas.
  • Intellectual curiosity: must possess a desire to understand why/how things work vs. simply completing the task at hand.
  • Knowledge of and experience using Project Management Software
  • Possesses strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
