Ariens Company is seeking a motivated Quality Technician for its 1st Shift in Brillion, WI. This role involves controlling processes and inspecting products to ensure compliance with specifications. Key responsibilities include performing process and product audits, problem-solving using 8D's and A3's, implementing Lean Manufacturing, inspecting components to CAD specifications, and supporting manufacturing operations. The technician will also be responsible for identifying non-conforming material, driving action based on data, and ensuring supplier compliance.
Must have:
  • Perform daily Process Audits
  • Complete Product Audits
  • Carry out problem-solving efforts using 8D’s and A3’s
  • Eliminate waste using Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques
  • Execute “Floor Support” by supporting Manufacturing
  • Inspect components, using an array of equipment, to print and/or CAD specifications
  • Identify and process non-conforming material
  • Drive action based on the regular review of data and metrics
  • Reduce risk using Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) tools
  • Communicate process capability using Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Ensure Ariens suppliers are compliant by verifying PPAP submissions and/or auditing their parts within incoming inspection
  • Understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the different types of measurement scales
  • Strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions
  • Select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques for a given characteristic
  • Measure using surface plate layouts
  • Basic calibration knowledge
  • Identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of testing methods
  • Identify and report nonconforming material
  • Understand traceability (product, material, and calibration)
  • Know basic quality terms, definitions, and concepts
  • Know the basic problem-solving steps
Good to have:
  • Quality Technician or Manufacturing Engineering Technician Certificate or Diploma from college or technical school
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certificate

We are currently recruiting for a motivated and passionate Quality Technician to control processes and inspect products to ensure compliance with specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the manufacturing of Zero Turn Mowers, Snow Blowers, and other Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) by performing the following tasks:

  • Perform several daily Process Audits to ensure all processes are being followed per Ariens standards
  • Complete Product Audits to ensure all products are being manufactured per design intent
  • Carry Out problem solving efforts, using 8D’s and A3’s daily
  • Eliminate waste in all processes using Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques
  • Execute “Floor Support” by supporting Manufacturing and removing the hurdles that negatively affect production
  • Inspect components, using an array of equipment, to print and/or CAD specifications
  • Learn Ariens standards and OPE industry standards and apply them in this role
  • Teach other Ariens employees Quality processes and methods
  • Identify and process non-conforming material
  • Drive action based on the regular review of data and metrics
  • Reduce risk using Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) tools
  • Raise awareness by posting Quality Alerts
  • Communicate process capability using Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Ensure Ariens suppliers are compliant by verifying PPAP submissions and/or auditing their parts within incoming inspection

Required Qualifications

  • Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the different types of measurement scales
  • Must have a strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds
  • Must be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques for a given characteristic
  • Must know how to measure using surface plate layouts
  • Must have basic calibration knowledge
  • Must be able to identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major, and minor characteristics
  • Must have knowledge of testing methods
  • Must be able to identify and report nonconforming material
  • Must understand traceability (product, material, and calibration)
  • Must know basic quality terms, definitions, and concepts
  • Must know the basic problem-solving steps: understand the problem, determine the root cause, develop/implement solutions, and verify effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Quality Technician or Manufacturing Engineering Technician Certificate or Diploma from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certificate
