Ansys, now part of Synopsys, is seeking an R&D Engineer to contribute to the enablement-focused development of software products and supporting systems within the Ansys Cloud platform. The role involves collaborating with a team of experts to define, implement, and extend common core microservices and APIs used across the Ansys technology portfolio. Responsibilities include working within a small team on cloud microservices and APIs, employing the Cloud-centric Agile Software Development Lifecycle, performing bug verification and release testing, researching and developing solutions for issues, and contributing to Ansys Cloud product strategy. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Engineering or Computer Science, experience with Software-as-a-Service products, and knowledge of Cloud Computing.
Must have:
  • Develop and maintain cloud microservices and APIs
  • Agile Software Development Lifecycle experience
  • Bug verification and release testing
  • Research and solve software problems
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with SaaS products
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing
  • Exposure to API design (HTTP/REST, Java, Python, GraphQL)
Good to have:
  • AWS Cloud Technologies experience
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Basic understanding of software development process
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and collaborate

Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer contributes to enablement-focused development of software products and supporting systems within the Ansys Cloud platform.  In this role, the R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to define, implement, and extend common core microservices, systems, and their Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that will be used across the Ansys technology portfolio.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities 
 

  • Works in a small team that develops and maintains cloud microservices and APIs to be consumed by Ansys technologies. 

  • Employs the Cloud-centric Agile Software Development Lifecyle from requirements gathering to release 

  • Performs basic bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products 

  • Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions 

  • Works under the close supervision of a development manager 

  • Contributes to additional responsibilities identified by Ansys Cloud product strategy 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 
 

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 

  • Experience with software development targeting Software-as-a-Service products

  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing with hands-on Cloud Service Provider experience
  • Exposure to API design and implementation for HTTP/REST using Java, Python, and/or GraphQL

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Technologies

  • Familiar with container and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes 

  • Basic understanding of the software development process 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
