Job Description

As a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel at Google, you'll be part of an APAC-based team leading the company's defense strategy against government and regulatory actions. Responsibilities include leading responses to inquiries, investigations, and litigation; managing information collection and production for external submissions; advising on government audits; and representing the company in engagements with regulators. The role demands a strong understanding of APAC legal landscapes and experience in regulatory risk management. You'll work collaboratively with internal teams, providing proactive legal advice on products and initiatives while contributing to the evolution of information law.

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory, and litigation matters, including addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience and understanding of the legal, laws and regulations in APAC.
  • Experience engaging with regional regulators and global data protection or consumer protection authorities.
  • Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek to meet the standards of integrity.

  • Provide legal advice on government and regulatory audits and exams.
