This role involves driving coverage for the Nine Publishing masthead, maintaining its reputation for quality, fearless journalism. The ideal candidate will have a journalism background, with experience in sub-editing, digital, and social media production. Responsibilities include producing and publishing various content types, managing the WAtoday homepage, filing breaking news, and covering rounds like property, all within a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • Demonstrated newsroom experience as a print or online reporter
  • Experience in sub-editing stories
  • Experience in digital production
  • Experience in social media production
  • Homepage editing experience
  • Proven track record of breaking stories
  • Ability to develop contacts
  • Ability to produce and publish news articles, social media content, newsletters, and live blogs
  • Ability to manage a news homepage
  • Ability to respond to breaking news quickly and accurately
  • Ability to write across a range of topics, including property

  • Experience working in an online environment

Job Description

WAtoday is looking for an enthusiastic producer/reporter to help drive coverage at the Nine Publishing masthead based in Perth’s CBD.

The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, preferably with sub-editing, digital and social media production experience, and the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for someone who can produce and publish news articles, social media content, newsletters and live blogs, as well as manage the WAtoday homepage. The right candidate will also be able to file breaking news stories and cover rounds including property.

Day to day you will:

  • Produce and publish a variety of content, including news articles, social media posts, newsletters, and live blogs.
  • Manage the WAtoday homepage, ensuring it is up-to-date and engaging.
  • Respond to breaking news, writing and filing stories quickly and accurately.
  • Write across a range of topics, covering rounds including property, as required.
  • Utilise your sub-editing and digital production skills to help create and refine content.

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Demonstrated newsroom experience as a print or online reporter
  • Experience in sub-editing stories and digital and social media production
  • Homepage editing experience
  • A proven track record of breaking stories and developing contacts
  • Experience working in an online environment (desirable)
