Description
The Royalty Accountant is responsible for ensuring royalty reports and payments are processed accurately and timely. This role is responsible for recording the royalty revenue/expense in the general ledger, reconciling all accrued balances and processing payments to licensors. This role works closely with internal and external business partners.
What You’ll Do
- Intake and process new Licensing agreements for royalty team, including scheduling and inputting contractual payments
- Assist in preparing and entering monthly accruals into the ERP system
- Prepare and process monthly and quarterly royalty statements and payments
- Work closely with external licensors on monthly/quarterly sales reports, online data submissions, other required information and assist with various issues or concerns that may arise
- Work with internal and external auditors to improve and maintain SOX controls and control documentation
- Partner with internal licensing department to ensure we are in line with our contractual agreements
- Assist with set up of new contracts and updating existing contracts in contract management and royalty systems. Provide support to Licensors and perform reconciliations as needed
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
- Assist in various non-routine assignments and reports as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university in business, accounting or related field preferred
- 2+ years of Accounting/Finance experience
- Previous royalty reporting experience is preferred but not required
- Previous experience working with contracts and contractual language is strongly preferred
- Proficient organizational and time management skills to independently prioritize multiple tasks and bring projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external partners
- Experience working with auditors and SOX controls is preferred but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; able to utilize the internet effectively to find solutions
- Solid Excel skills – must be able to organize data, utilize pivot tables, write formulas, design professional reports, and extract data into Excel
- Good problem-solving skills – must be able to identify problems and find solutions; demonstrate attention to detail while working with large sets of data and multiple inputs/parameters
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Salary Information
The base salary range for this position is $32.56 - $34.62/HR. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
