Job Description

The SAR Mission Systems Instructor will be responsible for training Canada’s next generation of Fixed-Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) aircrew. They will deliver academic presentations, conduct training, and contribute to courseware development. Responsibilities include delivering TACCO and Sensor Operator training in synthetic environments and ensuring training programs align with objectives. They will also assess student progress and provide subject matter expertise. The role requires working independently and responding to diverse customer requirements to achieve team goals. Additionally, the instructor will compile training progress and course debrief reports. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
Must have:
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
  • Obtain and maintain security clearance
  • Experience as military ACSO, AESOP or Air Navigator
  • Experience as a SAR crewmember
  • Experience as an instructor

  • Physically able to work in confined spaces

About This Role SAR Mission Systems Instructor CAE is seeking instructors to join the CAE team at 19 Wing Comox to train Canada’s next generation of Fixed-Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) aircrew. Responsibilities include:
  • Working independently and responding to a broad scope of customer requirements to achieve team goals;
  • Effectively delivering academic presentations to customers;
  • Conducting Servicing and Elementary Work training;
  • Delivering TACCO and Sensor Operator training programs incorporating academic / theory instruction and synthetic environments such as flight simulators and other ground-based training devices;
  • Contributing to the development of courseware and teaching aids;
  • Ensuring that training programs are consistent with training objectives and teaching points as specified in the applicable Training Plan and Quality Standard;Assessing, documenting and reporting student progress, issues and deficiencies relative to course delivery;
  • Providing oral and written ACSO and AESOP Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to the program and Training Centre team as required;
  • Compiling student training progress and course debrief reports; and
  • Occasional travel in support of CAE projects including overtime as required.
Mandatory qualifications include:
  • Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit;
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining both a Controlled Goods Clearance and a Government of Canada Level II security clearance;
  • Experience as a military ACSO, AESOP or Air Navigator;
  • Experience as a SAR crewmember regardless of aircraft type;
  • Experience as an Ab-Initio or OTU Instructor;
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Physically able to work in confined spaces such as flight training devices.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
  • Formal training in instructional delivery;
  • Familiar with Quality Standards, Training Plans and training media used to ensure Teaching Points are met per Training Standards;
  • Experience with authoring and amending multi-media instructional courseware;
  • Verbal French language skills suitable to instruct in French; and
  • Airbus 295 aircraft experience.
