Join our Team at SIMCOM Orlando as a Regulatory Specialist where you will be part of our global Business Aviation Training team. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring training center’s training devices compliance to recognized quality standards worldwide and maintain the required Level of Qualification. This position is at the supervisory level of technical staff and the incumbent is expected to exercise judgment and initiative in planning, coordination and execution of work assignments in line with existing policies and procedures and by effectively allocating time and resources to meet business and budget objectives in a timely manner.

Must Have:
  • Ensure training devices comply with global quality standards and maintain qualification.
  • Act as liaison between training center and regulators for device certification.
  • Coordinate regulatory evaluations and prepare status reports.
  • Direct programs for simulators to meet regulatory requirements, including Standard Fly outs and QTG’s.
  • Monitor and expedite recurrent evaluations, addressing findings.
  • Manage MQTGs, periodic test runs, and MMI reporting for flight training devices.
  • Plan and participate in qualification of new simulator projects and upgrades.
  • Associate's degree or college degree.
  • 5-8 years experience with complex technical equipment and documentation.
  • Full knowledge of FAA & EASA FSTD regulations.
  • Experience with aviation regulatory authorities (UK-CAA, FAA, EASA).
  • Strong knowledge of aviation operating procedures.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

The role we are offering you

In this role you are responsible for ensuring training center’s training devices compliance to recognized quality standards worldwide and maintain the required Level of Qualification. This position is at the supervisory level of technical staff and the incumbent is expected to exercise judgment and initiative in planning, coordination and execution of work assignments in line with the existing policies and procedures and by effectively allocating time and resources to meet business and budget objectives in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist management team in ensuring all technical & quality criteria are met to achieve maximum attainable standard of simulator certification and maintaining that standard for the life of the training device.
  • Act as a conduit for all matters related to the device’s certification between the training center and the regulators
  • Coordinate with Program Managers/Schedulers to ensure assigned regulatory evaluations are appropriately scheduled and staffed
  • Prepare and deliver full status reports during the authority’s evaluations highlighting previous/ current and future events which contribute towards a successful simulator technical operation.
  • Instigate and direct a program to enable the simulators to meet the requirements subjectively outlined by the regulatory. Namely set up a program of Standard Fly outs for all devices and training the individual stakeholders the requirements to successfully fulfill this requirement.
  • Schedule a program to achieve all the milestones required by the regulator related to objective testing of the device. (QTG’s)
  • Monitor the preparation for Recurrent Evaluations, checking and expediting where necessary, that required items such as QTG re-runs, subjective Fly Outs and QA audits have been completed. Subsequently monitor progress on any findings and provide 30 Day and follow-up Reports as required.
  • Analysis and provide feedback to technical staff related objective test run as required by the regulator to meet successful certification.
  • Communicate information regarding regulatory authority visits and distribute to the appropriate personnel.
  • Receive and distribute flight training device Statements of Qualification/Qualification Certificates.
  • Ensure all evaluation data is entered correctly and within established timeframes.
  • Coordinate with Technicians/Group Leaders all regulatory required flight training device tasks.
  • Manage and maintain MQTGs and periodic test runs for assigned flight training devices.
  • Manage MMI reporting in accordance with authority requirements for assigned flight training devices.
  • Assist with any regulatory financial and logistical concerns for assigned flight training devices.
  • Devise solutions related to problems encountered during evaluations without impacting adversely the certification of the device within the allotted timeframe. And Identify shortfalls with the product during the STD Flyout process and ensure they are highlighted to technical department for remedy in a timely manner
  • Train staff in both the flight operations department and technical departments the necessity of successfully meeting all applicable regulatory compliance standards to enable zero loss of flight time training.
  • Plans, schedules, directs and reviews work of team members/ department activities working with the Team Leader, Device Coordinator and Systems Engineer.
  • Plan and prepare for the Qualification of new simulator projects and upgrades and subsequently participate in their installation, testing and qualification. And review technical updates to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities.

Our ideal candidate

  • Associate's degree or college degree
  • 5-8 years of experience
  • Working with complex technical equipment. Reviewing complex technical documentation.
  • Be fully aware of the content of both FAA & EASA FSTD regulations whilst been able to communicate this information articulately to others to enable a successfully compliance by the teams.
  • Experience dealing with aviation regulatory authorities including but not limited to UK-CAA, FAA & EASA
  • Strong knowledge of aviation operating procedures related to both aircraft flight training and technical systems operations.
  • Successfully be able to relate to pilots training requirements driving the technical department to recognize these effectively whilst maintaining the device to regulatory standards.
  • The incumbent makes decisions and recommendations within formal guidelines or precedents
  • Knowledge of simulation techniques, computer systems, simulation software design methodologies, interfaces, hydraulics, instructor stations, and visual systems. 8+ years simulator experience
  • Solid understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Strong team coordination and project management skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Able to adapt procedures and resolve complex issues independently

Work Environment

  • This role is based in Orlando and supports three local training sites.
  • Requires approximately 15% travel, including occasional support for the Savannah location.
  • Offers a hybrid work setting, but candidates must be able to commute to one of the three Orlando sites regularly.
