Boulder Media is on the lookout for a Scene Prep Artist. It is a full-time, specified-purpose role with hybrid working arrangements (i.e., remote and in-studio working). The successful candidate will be available to start immediately and is required to be based in Ireland. The closing date for applications is the 16th of November 2025

About the role
The Scene Prep Artist is responsible for breaking down scenes and creating scenes in Toon Boom Harmony. Working closely with the Production Team, Team Leads and Pipeline Department, the Scene Prep Artist will ensure an efficient and fast flow of assets and information across the Production departments.

Key Responsibilities
- Use animatic and coresheet provided by the Production Team to complete the scene breakdown per episode.
- Identify and track all assets required in each episode (e.g. create the scene breakdown) and update and create any other tracking required by the production.
- Create and prep new scenes whenever the situation arises, including retake stages.
- Import all required assets to the scene (e.g. animatic, rigs, BGs, special poses, etc).
- Liaise with the Pipeline team and Production team to understand and learn the necessary tools required to complete scene prep.
- Make necessary adjustments to the scene setup to prepare it for animation.
- Check the scene lengths against the animatic and the tracking sheet, which will be created by the Production team, and flag any inconsistencies with the Production team and resolve them.
- Split up and create new scenes in Toon Boom Harmony as required by Directors, Leads and Production team – track the progress of these scenes and prep in the required assets.
- Liaise with the Editing and/or Production teams when any scenes need to be combined (the same shot with two different scene numbers, match cuts, etc).
- Ensure work files and folders are organised efficiently and back up your work frequently;
- Troubleshoot any technical issues with the Pipeline team, Directors, leads and Production team that may arise.
- Ensure that all naming conventions are followed and that all files are set up correctly and in line with the established pipeline and requirements of the animation and post-production teams.
- Organise and maintain the structure of the scene network while working in a scene.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure all production requirements are met.
- Take notes and keep track of progress and status to report to the Production team.
- Ensure that targets and deliveries are met as set out by the Production Manager and Production team.
- Assist the Production team and Production Manager as/when needed.
- Requirement to engage in continual improvement training as deemed needed by the company, your lead or supervisor.
- As part of your continuous development, you are expected to keep up to date with the latest initiatives and developments in your area of expertise/role through such as (but not limited to), training, learning and development initiatives and mentoring.
- Any other duties company management may from time to time deem necessary and reasonably require.
What would we look for?
- At least one year of experience working on a 2D animated series as a Scene Prep Artist or similar role.
- Detail-oriented, with a high level of focus.
- Strong sense of composition and design sensibilities.
- Have a good technical aptitude
- Understanding of 2D animation processes.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Good time management skills and an ability to work to deadlines.
- Must be flexible, willing to learn and self-motivated.
- Be able to work within a weekly quota and production schedule.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
